I know this question sounds weird, but I swear it's true!
I'm a 20-year-old guy who has never had a girlfriend (mostly because I'm too shy to ask girls out). For some whacky reason, my mother REALLY wants me to date an Asian girl, even though we're White. I've heard of parents who don't want their kids to date outside their race, but I feel this is the only case where the opposite is true.
My mother tells me stuff like, "I see you marrying an Asian woman" or "I think you'd just do better with an Asian girl, rather than a White girl." When I ask her why, she just gives me circular logic (e. g. "Because I just think you would"). I honestly have no idea where she gets this idea from. I'm not a weeb, or anything like that. The only connection I have to Asians is the fact that I work with all Chinese people in a research lab on my university's campus (I'm the only non-Chinese person in the lab). Other than having a few Asian friends and colleagues, I really have no ties to Asian stuff whatsoever.
Now that I'm back home from college for the summer, my mother keeps on pestering me to ask out a girl who lives across the street from us (you guessed it, she's Asian). She asks me if I think Asian girls are cute. She also tells me that she wants "cute Asian grandchildren." I just find it all so weird!!
Can anyone please tell me why my mother is so obsessed with me dating an Asian girl?
