Any good conversation starters over text?

I'm having a problem building friendship at the moment with someone because I never see them in person and the only chance I get is over text 😕 but any suggestions for good conversation topics to jump onto?

Just say Hey ask how they are doing, say good evening/morning/night, talk or ask about any favorite foods (everyone loves food), movies, shows, what is fun according to the other person, what kind of music they're into because who doesn't listen to music, what the person's opinions are on certain topics, if they like to read, any favorite sports, or favorite color, places they would want to travel. Those are some things I could think of for right now

My favorite conversation starter is "Hey". It will usually illicit some sort of neutral response which then leads to simple banter. Then, when you have the ball rolling, you switch over to something more insightful, like how they smell differently when they are asleep, or how many times they blink in a day.
