Isn't it unusual that a guy doesn't talk about his girlfriend a lot?

I've talked to a lot of guys in my lifetime, and been around ones who are taken and usually they mention their girlfriend at least one time during our conversation, or in passing (ex. while telling a story or something like that). But my crush, who has a girlfriend, NEVER talks about her. They even work together and you would never guess that they were a couple. If you're thinking he's reserved or something, hear this story and then tell me!

My friend and I went to Wal Mart (where my crush works, and I USED to work) and we were talking to my crush about cats. My friend said something along the lines of buying a cat to pick up girls and my crush said "I've done that actually I bought a cat for Jane." and my friend (full knowing that he had a girlfriend and what her name was) asked "Who?", to which my crush didn't reply and I answered her "That's his girlfriend."

See my crush didn't even speak up and say "That's my girlfriend." He just mumbled something incoherent and let his voice drift off.

Weird?

He never talked about her even at first when I barely knew him. I don't know, it bugs me.

He obviously has an interest in you and is trying to avoid any reference to him being taken. Even if he is not fully available, he doesn't want to appear as unavailable in the hopes that he has a chance with you. Fairly typical behaviour for the player inside him.

Turn the tables for a moment and imagine you were already with him, is that how you want him to react about your relationship? He isn't being true to their relationship, even if he isn't physically fooling around, his mind and heart are elsewhere.

I don't talk about my girlfriend to most of my friends. I don't talk about most of my friends to most of my friends. Unless I'm close to you, I see no reason to mention other parts of my private life. I hate guys that constantly mention they have a girlfriend and all that. It's like they are trying to sell themselves and brag about how amazing it is that they have a girlfriend. Sometimes my friends won't even know I have a girlfriend until we all go out together and I introduce them.

lol, yea that is weird. maybe she is his soon not to be girlfriend and can sense that you like him and he doesn't want to piss you off by talking about a girlfriend all the time:)

So what does he talk about. himself? Work? Maybe he is just a private guy.

When we talk usually it's about our surroundings or we joke around about something. We've talked about him and how he likes photography and about how we don't believe in organized religion, most recently we talked about his band 's name and how he doesn't like it. Of course we've had more than those three conversations but those are examples.

Well I'm stumped. If he like to talk about things in his life but never about her, that is odd.

What do you mean too much to mention?

How hard would it be while making casual conversation to be like "Oh yeah me and Jane saw that movie the other day"

Hard to explain really. She is probably special to him, and just to mention her name or anything about her may give that away, or otherwise he's a player and don't want to mention he has a girlfriend infront of potential girlfriends, or seeing you like him he may be trying not to hurt your feelings by flaunting his girlfriend before you. It seems it can be those extremes.
