Why is being a Stay-At-Home mom looked down upon?
Stay-at-home moms, Homemakers, are really cool in my opinion. I'm married to one, have been for 14 years. Sure we could have more money if we had dumped our son in day care and she went out to work but you never know what's going on with your children when they are in another persons' care. No it's a good job, one worthy of respect (so long as the job gets done) and recognition.
Depends on where you live and the kind of people you are around. It's not at all looked down upon where I live. Same with most people I've been around in other places. Where I live, probably half the married women with children are housewives. I think the number is increasing. Nobody thinks anything of it. It's really pretty normal around here.
Because people judge others based on their own experience, but in others' shoes. They are selfish and mean, and the society has been promoting 'diversity' in standards, so they think they are entitled to judge.
Cuz some people think what other people choose to do with their lives is their business.

I wouldn’t down on a stay-at-home-mom. That just means their husband is able to provide enough for the family on a sole income. I’d say that’s great, heck, if my wife made more than me, was more qualified than me - I’d stay at home too, would love to spend time with my kids, do work from home etc etc.
You are employed but produce no income.
So... your family make less money. Save less money. Chance of having financial difficulty drastically increased. Children less likely able to afford a debt free college.
Other families function just fine with both parents work.
So, unless you're a sugar baby sucking on a very wealthy guy then you are close to a dead weight.
Our society is shaping into pushing women into higher positions and not things like being a stay at home mom. Just like many have stated feminism is a big factor that pushes women to stop being traditional and become COE's and doctors not teachers and stay at home mom. I could go on to say how the wage gap is misleadingly false because women naturally want to go into lower paying jobs but I will save that.

Because feminism, Feminism did this. Homemakers are super beneficial and IT'S BIOLOGY FOR THE WOMAN TO CARE FOR THE CHILDREN!.
I appreciate hardwork of staying-home-mom.
The best thing in the world is Mom.

Feminism. If you weren't out in the work world you're apparently not worth as much as a man.
It's not in my book. Just moron people that stick their noses in other's business.
It because the "strong and independent line touted by feminist". I don't care if a woman is a stay at home mom.
I, for sure, don't look down at stay-at-home mom, since that's something i'd like to do too if I had children.
It shouldn't be, sometimes it's just how it is. If you're going to judge them then judge their level of interest, the example they set for their kids, are they a positive force in the children's lives
Because when it comes down to it, the husband is working to pay all the bills, keep the house, have a car, and the woman contributes only for the few years it's truly difficult to raise a child. After that, they do almost nothing.
I don’t like it because a lot of stay at home moms get real entitled and vociferous about their opinions, real mouthy. Too much time on their hands
People think moms do nothing they just enjoy their free time at home.
A lot of it is jealousy I can only guess
Feminism, feminist are toxic
Because humans are stupid.
I don't look down on them
Same could be asked about working mothers.
... Huh? What is this question?
because feminism
