When you do a DNA test, do you think it accurately reflects all of the different heritage you have?

Of course it doesn't.

DNA tests can only show what a small percentage of your ancestors have contributed to your genetic makeup. It doesn't mean that 22% of your ancestors are "White". I means that 22% of your genetic makeup is in common with those people we associate with the European peninsula.

It doesn't say which part of your code or which features will be prominent.

As you can see, all of these "Black" people have higher percentages of European DNA than you. African-Americans have significant European DNA. And we always will.

Well, I only get questioned about my heritage when I travel. But think most people outside of the United States aren't really exposed to African-Americans. When they think of "Black" people they tend to think of African immigrants. I have had Arabs and Eastern Europeans ask me extensively about my heritage.

And I just say. .. "I'm "Black" in America. Its good enough for me."

i started college and instead of getting a hello whats your name i get a “what are you” like it’s really not that hard lol... im mexican by the way... maybe my tallness throws them off... or my high cheeckbones and narrow pointy nose... along w my thin lips lol and tan skin hahaha

DNA tests are bases one the theory that the majority of people that originated from a arbitrary section of the world at an arbitrary time she the same genetic phenotype. It fails because people moved around even at ancient times, there are certain African phenotypes that match with caucasian phenotypes but are in fact just as naturally dark skinned as other African groups. So take what is telling you with a grain of salt.

Your DNA doesn't change, but the interpretation can change. Also, remember, you do not actually get 50% of your DNA from each parent. You get *on average* 50% from each parent. (Except for 1% held in the mitochondria, which is 100% from Mom,, and if you're a guy, your Y chromosome, that you get from your father.)

Could it? Yes of course. There's no way of knowing from your result *which* genes are European. If they were the ones controlling skin color, facial morphology, eye color, and hair type, you would be indistinguishable from a European. Instead you likely have them scattered around.

My understanding is that what we define as races are not supported by DNA evidence and that its not possible to say a black person is this a white person is that because there are so many differences the things that we put importance on are irrelevant, genetically speaking.
