Is ugly subjective? Is there a such thing as objectively ugly?

Below is a picture of a criminal.
I really do think the majority of people would think he is ugly looking or not handsome/good looking.
Since everybody would agree he is not handsome or good looking I would not call that very subjective.

Yeah he's ugly.
But that's mostly do to his "look" instead of his appearance.
He LOOKS like a weasely criminal piece of trash. The eyes don't look friendly at all, they look... harmful, predatory.
That's whats really ugly about him.
Some people can have an ugly outward appearance but the way they carry themselves can make them sexy anyways. This clown no.

He is not ugly outside, maybe just on the inside. He's not my type, but I see way worse looking men on a daily basis, so he is just average in my book. So your theory is incorrect. Just because someone has a shitty personality that doesn't impact how I see them on the outside. They still have the same features outside.

He has some good features actually, but he's not above average. That doesn't apply to other people, beauty is subjective. For example, lots of people thibk Miranda Kerr is pretty, I don't.

To an extent although certain features you can objectively say are attractive or not.

For example unattractive traits could include: a flat chest on a girl, excessive hair in certain places; receding hairline or baldness in men, rounded jaw is more feminine and thus less attractive than a square jaw on a man. Acne and acne scarring etc.

It depends on your life experience, like how people who look like you ex are still your preference. If a guy who looked like that one time in your life was kind, fun, loving you would grow attracted to his ‘type’ in the future.

I get what you’re saying though, there are certain standards that society deems ‘attractive’ height, hair, skin tone, muscle density etc I guess my point is that superficial first impression is not the whole picture when it comes to someone being considered attractive

What people claim to be objective beauty is only common taste. So when something is subjectively appreciated by many it becomes objectively beautiful? I think that the concept of objectivity does not work this way.

There is a difference between being ugly and not being attractive, the middle is average

The only reason he’s not attractive is because he currently looks like he wants to kill someone. Scowling is not attractive, but attractive people can still scowl. Then you have the prison outfit. Also unattractive. But the person looks like he could be handsome.
