If you could only have one child, would you rather have a son or a daughter?

I've already done it... but I desperately wanted a daughter and luckily had one.
I come from a very nasty family. All of the men were abusive (sexually and physically) to the girls, while the boys were treated like kings.
I picked up on this and decided that I wanted to have a daughter so I could end the abuse and give her what my sisters, cousins and nieces never had... a safe, loving father figure and confortable childhood.
Turns out, I'm the last man to carry on the family name and I never had a son.
I feel bad for ending the family name, but I'm also ecstatic for being strong enough to realize the evil that was going on and stop it forever.
My daughter is currently very happy, has a stable relationship with a nice boy, and cruising through college with a 5.0 GPA.

I’d go with a son for sure... 😂... but besides all that, I’d be the worst dad ever when she got to dating age, I’d be slapping up 15 year old boys on the reg lmfao.

I'm a only child and a girl (obviously). And I think my parents are very happy with that. My mum is a very clean person and would freak if she had a son with the typical dirty socks under his bed and muddy football boots. My dad I know (secretly) enjoys spoiling me, he likes going shopping and going on holiday etc.

From the lack of siblings I had and the quiet house, I defo want an army of children. Maybe 3, or 4 ;). Depends on what kind of money me and my husband will have etc. I don't want that many children if I can't afford all of them to travel and go to good schools and have their own space.

after working with kids at summer camps, i have to pick a son. even at a young age the girls are very gossipy, the boys on the otherhand are just full of energy and carelessness. i think that would be fun to be able to have an active child and play basketball with him outside rather than dolls (not saying girls dont do that too... but stereotypically its what you can expect)

I've got two sons both wonderful men. I've never had to spank either of them. I can tell you that as protective as I feel twords my boys and as much as I love the females in my life... I would just be a wreck cuz nobody would be good enuff for my baby girl as stupid as that sounds.

I would pick a son because I can relate to him more, which will hopefully minimize my mistakes as a parent. Also, boys often do not need much protection compared to girls at a young age.

Men have it easier in the world (generally speaking) but women are usually better citizens (as it says in free-ebooks' "Are Women the Stronger Sex" - again, generally speaking).
Ultimately, it wouldn't matter to me. I'd try to raise my son to be a good man who is respectful towards women. The world needs more men like that.

At my age I would cherish either, but they would be taught to think for themselves and question anything being taught to them that they were unsure about and if they needed a sounding board I'd always be available.

A son. I can't deal with the stress of a daughter dating. My biggest fear is seeing my daughter blowing some dude.
Like what if I walk in and he finishes in her mouth and she just looks at me scared with a full mouth. I wouldn't know if I'd be more pissed to see her spit or swallow, either way I'd start swinging.

I want 5 daughters. I held my niece when she was an infant and it changed me 😭. I’ve always wanted kids but since then I’ve wanted girls.

But I also think it would be cool to have a mini-me running around. So I’d be happy with boys too
