What’s your opinion on women breastfeeding in public?

I'm okay with it but I'm used to it since it was very commonplace in Japan in the 80s when I was a boy and women would not even do it discreetly.

It stopped being considered appropriate somehow here in Japan. I'm not sure what it is but I think censorship in the media? Like when I was a boy, not only was very public and exposed breastfeeding commonplace, but they also showed commercials for bath soaps and shampoos and public baths and such featuring nude women (and with private parts exposed, not carefully hidden), and those aired on even the children's cartoon networks I was watching. It was considered fine for kids to see these things along with violence.

Now it's not considered fine for some reason, and I think that has caused nudity to become seen as much more of a sexual thing regardless of context.

I believe there should be no problem at all if someone needed to feed their child while in public, and from this, I also believe that being topless should be legal for anyone, because it seems to me that men are privileged to be able to walk around topless while women are not. I don't get turned on by random people on a nudist beach. Sure I might think to my self "hehe, that's a nice pair of titties", but the more often people witness this, the sooner they will leave this mindset and will stop sexualising breasts. We get it, they're cool, and fun to play with, but a woman should not have to be forced to cover herself up to avoid unwanted behaviours.

I would imagine that the only ones that are offended by a woman doing the most natural thing in the world, namely to feed her hungry baby, are the very same ones that gawk at billboards and posters of semi nude girls hanging around and promoting tires, corned beef or the latest tabs for the dishwasher.

Our society has unfortunately become so superficial and gets offended by a women breastfeeding but finds it perfectly okay to watch pornographic or semi pornographic content on TV after 10 PM like walking nude in a forest, judging male and female genitals and a few other, much more offending subjects.

I don't have a problem with it. Some people are more comfortable with a cover, but I don't think that should be a requirement. Some babies refuse to eat under a cover. They can get hot underneath, and babies like to be able to see. Many of them will tantrum if you try to put them under a cover. I don't think a mother should be forced not to go out, or to give her kid a less then optimal means of nutrition, just because the kid is a fussy baby. That's no one's fault.

It is a basic human need of the new born human (baby), I believe that if the baby needs to be feed, feed the baby. This retrogrades against women feeding their babies, they are the ones that have dirty minds when they see the woman feeding the baby and if you want you can have dirty thoughts (imagine what you want) but leave other people alone!
Simple human basic need of that member of our society that should be the most protected, our young ones our babies!.
We need to protect them better than we have so far we have allowed for this people to take away this basic right...

Breastfeeding is something essential for the baby.. and a responsible mom will do that or regular basis.. so if she wants to do that every 2 hours she will never be able to go out because at least one breastfeeding time will due... i think that a mom can manage to get a pumping machine she can extract her milk when she is home and save it for the time she is out this way she can manage not to do breastfeeding in public.

And if it is impossible and she's out of saved milk and had to do it outside she can get covered by blanket no problem...

If I suck my girlfriend's tit in public it's called exhibitionism. If a baby sucks it's mother's tit in public it's called breastfeeding. What's the fundamental difference between the two? Answer: the baby is doing it for food, I'm doing it because I like it. Personally I don't think mine or a hypothetical baby's motives affect the issue people might have in either scenario. No one really gives a shit about who sucks her tit or why, they care (if they care at all) about her tit being out in public. This question is just a another way to ask "should women be allowed to walk around with their tits out like it's no big deal?", to which I answer: No. Keep your clothes on in public please.

It's just a biological process, in this case, the nourishment of the baby by its mother. I think the issue is how it is perceived and viewed differently according to society and the cultural values of a particular region. Most would be okay with breastfeeding with a blanket covering however, some might favour the use of breast pumps and a bottle in public.

plain and simple way of looking at it, kids gotta eat too... and it's perfectly natural
the amount of bad bacteria that can form on bottles and feeding implements can be quite high... even after you sterilise the things
plus breastfeeding means a mother doesn't have to carry much other than changing items and wipes etc... maybe a spare bottle for in case some cooled boiled water is needed

Baby's got to eat, breastfeeding is easier, cheaper, and less time consuming than the alternatives of formula or pumping. Also milk production goes down with just pumping from what I've seen with two daughters.

Making formula while holding a crying infant is just... oh boy, a treat. If I had titties I would have been whipping them out every time on that checklist, diaper, clean, last nap? Nipple in mouth, and letdown pain

I also find it highly amusing when prudes get shocked or rush to shield their precious little children's eyes from the "pornographic" image of a mother breastfeeding. With parents like that, the kids are going to wind up messed up anyway.

People have a problem with nudity for some odd reason. There is nothing wrong with breast feeding an infant in public. 12 months and older (some people recomend breast feeding for as long as 3 years) should be done at home or in a single occupant bathroom.

It’s no big deal. It’s barely even exhibitionism, considering the relatively minimal quantity of breasts flopping out and the fact there is a baby covering, and it’s a non-sexual act.

I see no reason to make a big fuss about it, it’s fine.

Also, it’s just a random person on the street breastfeeding. It can’t be that hard to just not pay attention to it

As long as there’s a blanket covering it I’m fine. It's a natural normal function but consider social norms and attraction... It's feels more uncomfortable with it visible. There's also those with religious beliefs that avoid looking at breasts directly. I'd say at home it's totally fine with your family but in public or with others, just cover it up with a handkerchief or something

Just the other day I walked into my local mall were I saw this lady was breastfeeding her baby out in the open. Man, this tit was massive. She was pretty skinny but had these cantaloupe sized knockers. I quickly looked away out of respect. If my girlfriend were to decide to breastfeed out in public like that I wouldn't like it because I know society is pretty immature when it comes to that subject. But it's not my place to tell anyone wether or not they should do it.

Breasts aren't really Sex organs, so there isn't really a definite rule on keeping them covered. A Woman shouldn't be charged with Indecent Exposure, since they hold food for the baby. I think it's all good!

As long as it is covered I am fine with it. Years ago I had a girlfriend who saw it in a restaurant and went psycho over it and she stormed out of the restaurant. I was embarrassed by her acting that way.
