My mom won't let me cut my hair... im 18 and about to graduate highschool I dont know what to do?

some background info... i am an 18 year old senior in high school. i have a job and have had one since i was 16 years old. i pay for everything i want, i pay for all my products i use for myself. I paid for my phone and for my phone bill every month. i bought the phone but the service is in her name. she takes my phone away as punishment and won't let me see my boyfriend if i do something she doesn't like.

i have expressed how i want to cut my hair to my shoulders. i have been thinking about it for a long time and have thought it through over and over again and have decided i wanted to cut it. then... my mom said i couldn't. i instantly said "its MY hair". she replied with "not as long as you live under my roof." she is constantly being so controlling and i hate it so much. after she said that i told her that i am 18 and she said that the next person to cut their hair would get beat with the belt. if i do it she would take my phone and ground me. im about to be a high school graduate and im going to be 19 in 5 months. i dont know what to do. im so angry and tired of her controlling everything like this.

Legally you're an adult, do whatever you want with your hair. If your parents can't handle you cutting your hair now they most likely will have their heads explode when you're out on your own in the real world. Might be good to get them used to the idea now.

Whos paying for it? if its your mom she has a say. her money so its up to her. if your paying for it then who cares.

Maybe just hold out until your graduate. If your going to go away for college or move out, then you can do what you want.

im staying here for college but im going to begin saving money to move out so maybe in a few years ill be able to leave

It's usually best to just listen to your parents, even while they might be shitty parents. I think them trying to control your hair sis a bit silly, but they are your parents and you should respect them. They are not there to screw you over after all

I don't know about ur families.. but in my surrounding.. all parenta rend to have trauma or following their parents.. and mostly they treated their kids unconsciously the same as their parents treat them.. or they wanted to protevt u from something.. but we seeing as they too controlling
