My mom won't let me cut my own hair..

Ive been growing out my hair and I've just been so pissed off and unsatisfied with it for some reason. The novelty wore off pretty quick because my hair is natural (curly as fck) and I have to straighten that sh*t every 2 weeks.

Im not a hairstylist but I know how to cut hair properly at least. I really just want to put a bowl on it and go at it. Its not like I've nvr had my hair cut before, I love short hair and I love getting my hair chopped off.

That being said I want it off now and I don't want to pay 70 dollars to do. I'm 18 I should able to do what I want with my hair or at least learn from my own mistakes in the event that this ends horribly, but it won't because Ill like no matter how short it is. >.>

Not wanting to be rude, but this whole conversation is really strange. Why would your mother ground/ punish you if you cut your own hair? Not the wisest decision ever, but a mother can only do so much... You're the one walking around with it, but ultimately your behavior also affects your family, just a reminder.

Either way, I understand your despair feelings about your hair, but your speech doesn't fit an 18 years old. Calm down, and properly go to a hairstylist, get advice on the best cut, etc.

Not sure how it works where you live, but in some places new hairdressers usually look for hair models in order to practice and get their licenses. It's a free cut, so maybe you could look into that?

Youre 18 its your hair if you want it short then cut it, if your mother has a problem remind her that you are 18 y.o.

If you f*** it up, then shave it an equal size on the top, back and sides.

Then to make it more stylish, either make the sides and back shorter, or go to the barber and fix it cheaply.

Lets start with proper English so I can read what your asking. So cut it when she's not around but I also think you should go to a hair dresser. How about telling your mom that if she does not want you to do it then she can pay for the hair dresser.

Oh I'm not offended, I do realize that I am the household door mat. Everywhere else I stick up for myself just fine, but my mom scares the sh*t out of me to a certain extent.

I'm just gonna start doing stuff and not asking first. Oh well I'm getting my hair cut, just not by me >.> 2 more months and I'm moving out to start university so I've got that to look forward to. Then I'll just do w/e.

I'm glad you're not offended. I used to be a bit of "doormat" myself too. I have quite a large traditionally Asian, Islamic family. My parents used to scare the crap out of me too when I was younger, but now I'm nobody's doormat and trust me, it feels so much better!

Breaking free and stepping out of line is so difficult, so I understand if you struggle to do it.

Either way, I hope Uni goes well for you and your released from your mothers intimidation soon.
