Is there any job more important than being a mother?

I'm curious, and no I am not trolling. It's a genuine question. All the time i see women who want nothing more than to be a wife and a mother get shamed for such a desire. My wife wants that, granted she wants to do other things too, but ultimately, when we do have kids, she wants to be a stay at home mom. Her friends have essentially called her a traitor for that desire. As her husband, I told her from the beginning, that I would support any choice she made, if she wanted to work, I'm fine with it, if she wanted to be a sahm I'm okay with that. What ever she chose she has my support. And yet some of her friends think I'm somehow pushing this on her. I'm not nor would I ever.

I my opinion, there is nothing more important than raising the next generation of humans. I believe being a good mother, being a good father, both, are super important. I also believe the choice to do other things should be there.

Lots of jobs out there are so very important… but very different compared to moms… there are lots of who should not be moms… 🤦‍♀️

on that note… A mother’s job is important. She can break or make the child/family. However she is not the only one who has to sacrifice … both parents must be on the same page with forming a family.
you both are on similar path at this point that I can see from your questions…

however once a child comes in the picture, the dynamic of the relationship changes so you must jchange/grow together. So it’s not only the mother’s job the most important.

the other thing is finance…aside from being able to have a child/children to have a stay at home parent… set financial goals for the future. Change your legacy by having 0 debts and have more than enough for your children to never get into debt. Teach them, grow with them, sit with them and listen to them.
if you and your wife can do that … go for it.

hubby and I discussed how in America…one can still have that life.

I stayed home with my two for 3-5 yrs… then back to teaching. Having the same schedule as them makes a huge difference.
now hubby is retired…he takes care of the house, kids…

Being a mom/parent is pretty important. Though, I believe that’s not really reflected in how moms are treated in our society in regards to the attack on birth rights, lack of work flexibility, and imbalance in shared parenting responsibilities.


Aside from that, I think it’s pretty important for women to feel comfortable in the life choice she’s made as well as receiving proper support. It’s not whether or not she’s choosing to be a SAHM or not, it’s about what she’s most happy doing. It seems your wife has your moral support which is great. Now, can you properly support the family on your income alone? The economy is changing and it will continue. Soon it will be difficult to support a family on less than 100k a year.

Where I live the median two person household income is 35k. It's the benefit of living in a low cost of living area. I make significantly more than that.

Yeah I read you live in the Midwest which in my experience is the most affordable region of the states. Rent was dirt cheap where I was in Indiana. Miss those days!

At first, I thought it was a weird question. But I agreed 100% with your comment.

Some woman don't want to have children. Some men don't want kids. That's okay. But it negates that idea that there is nothing more important than being a mother.

If people do choose to have kids, though, being a great parent should take top priority. In that sense, it is very, very important to be good mothers AND fathers.

Mothers are just as important as fathers. Unfortunately these days targets are made more and more irrelevant. Women claim they don't need a man in the house in order to take care of a child. A man is only meant for child support and to die for the family. That's it. That's why I don't want to be a father.

I think your wife has made the best choice to be a stay at home mom (homemaker).

To be honest, I think her friends are jealous that she can afford to do that. You must make a lot of 💰 money!!

Not everyone has that option anymore because everything is so expensive - especially kids!

I agree its the most important job and my dream job. Now i dont want to be a stay at home mom but i dont mind being a work from home mom. I still want to work but more so when the kid is in preschool/kindergarten

Being a good parent is important work, but there's tons of jobs that society would crumble without. It's hard to say what's the most important when they are all necessary.

An argument could be madr that being a stay at home mother is the most selfless work because they aren't being paid.
