I would prefer to go to the future because of two thing:
1. Safety the fact that I'm there could change things eventually getting in my not being born or something like that.
2. I think if any of those could make a change on my perspective and way of living would be the future.

Personally I wouldn't care about family if I could travel in time, I would want to know what humanity has been up to. And I pick future because I can get the idea of the past in books
