    Not an issue.

my sister came out while we were both teens, the lack of stable male boyfriends was a clue.

her spending more time chattting to my girlfriend was another.

our mum was okay with it.

to be honest it’s a good thing to come out rather than hiding it, as that means more mental stress and that’s not good for anyone,

badly. the purpose of life is to make more life and if they don't heterosexually reproduce its like why even bother being alive.

plus diversity damages a society by adding too many groups that all want different things. its not sustainable. its not nice to say but all societies are built on intolerance, not tolerance

Nothing would change. I'd still love them and I'd embrace who they are.

My child came out as non-binary. A bit difficult to understand and adapt to using they/them but who am I to argue with them? Gay would have been a bit easier to understand -- it (our libido) wants what it wants and we deny it at our peril.

you shouldn't "adapt" to that at all. its not a real thing

who are you to argue? the parent. the one who is supposed to guide them through the world and show them when others are not smart enough to teach them. there is no scientific data to even support the existence of "non binary"

@007kingifrit They were 22, so the parental relationship was over. Besides you know nothing about it. No "scientific evidence" is required, it's their choice and I respect it. Don't like it? Move yourself to some Islamic republic. You would be more at home there.

the parental relationship is never over. your kids lack wisdom. that's something that can't come from education.

yes scientific evidence is required. its not a real thing and it hurts them and society long term. you're too soft to be a good parent

what an immature thing to say. and what an unscientific question to ask

the one claiming something doesn't exist does not need scientific evidence. only an affirmative claim requires evidence

      Okay but here’s the thing
Non binary people do in fact exist so non binary exists

no they don't. non binary people do not exist. only people claiming to be

Why would somebody claim to be?

      several reasons:
      1. social "justice" movements despise "privilege" this effectively means that the more oppressed and niche your minority. the "cooler" or more virtuous you are. so claiming to be non binary is a quick express lane to popularity and moral goodness on the left
      2. a phenomenon known as self handicapping. people often pretend there is something wrong with them or intentionally make something mildly wrong with them to avoid criticism. such as a runner who knows she is going to lose a big race tomorrow eating a donut the night before. now she can blame the donut instead of herself. people who are ugly men and women can claim be non binary to escape the fact that they aren't succesful as their biological sex. they get to give themselves a way out of criticism

Social justice thing makes no sense, being non binary actually requires you to change stuff about yourself like your pronouns or for some people even your name, why go through that trouble to be diverse when you could just lie about being bisexual
And self handicapping? Being non binary isn’t an illness and using it to get out of criticism doesn’t make sense. why go through the trouble when it wouldn’t even work, expectations don’t magically disappear when you’re non binary, non binary people still get criticism and they still deal with people saying they’re unsuccessful or saying they aren’t good enough, if anything being non binary causes more of that
And what about the people who legitimately get surgery and change their name so they can physically be non binary, why would they bother with that if they didn’t genuinely identify as non binary people don’t spend tens of thousands on surgery for attention

why go through the trouble? this question implies people are rational, you should know better at your age and not ask questions like this. some people are desperate to be included

being non binary is in all functional ways an illness. you JUST SAID YOURSELF it makes life harder

you just don't want it to be true. but it is. non binaries don't exist. its a fad, a cult

I’m just not gonna bother continuing with this, not because you’re right in anyway, you are completely wrong, but because I’m just gonna end up repeating myself to somebody who should just go back to the 19th century

They should question it however they can. They can be supporting too. Its always good to ask good questions to get better understanding of something for sake of yourself or others.
