Was I wrong in helping My Aunt to spank my cousin?

I have been living in a joint family now for my study, so i live with my aunt, uncle and cousins, I have two male cousin and one female cousin, my male cousins are 12 & 13 years old, there are very naughty and they always cause problems for my aunt ( their mother) last Saturday, my cousins were playing with a ball and one of my male cousin broke expensive TV of my aunt, she gone made in anger, she got him disrobed and asked him to lay on bed, she was going to spank him, but than aunt asked me to lift his both legs up in air for spankings, it was strange for me but aunt was looking very furious so i held my cousin's legs and lifted his legs up high enough and aunt spanked on his bare bottom very hard. anyway after spankings my 13 years old male cousin is very upset about this. and i am not sure if i did right thing by assisting my aunt in his spanking or not?

If your story is indeed true, then not only is it wrong but it is reprehensible in most of Western Europe or the USA/Canada.

By acting the way you did, you made yourself guilty of assistance of parental misuse. As an adult, you could be punishable by law for abuse as this is not tolerable to physically punish children by spanking them in the nude.

You can be sure that if I would have witnessed this scene, I would have intervened and pressed charge for child abuse.

You did right boys need a strong hand in there lives. The embarrassment and shame along with the sore bottom only helps direct and correct him. and truth is he feels secured and loved by the discipline, I'm sure as the sting wears off he felt much better and that his world was in order from his discipline. i think you should ask if you may assist again in the future as he need discipline. and if you are allowed maybe tell him and explain that you love him and understand this is for his well being and development into adulthood. How may I ask did it all make you feel when you were helping was it all negative or any positive?
