Curious. Anyone prefer their step mom/dad over their biological parents? What were the reasons?

I would imagine that would be some guilty feelings if you were personally inclined towards a step parent that you acquired. But did it ever happen where their personality or how they treated you made you have more affection for them than your own biological parent for whatever reason?

My parents that raised me-well, my mother had raised several kids already and my father is biologically my grandfather. They are moderate Christians, moderate Republicans, and boomers.

My birth father never wanted me and my birth mother wasn't a good mother. She is a socialist and a degenerate that is poor and blames all of their problems on others. She is on the border of generation x/millennials and is very much a typical millennial.

I was raised by the first two and while my birth mother did live in the same house for a while we never were super close. I am a mild Christian, a reactionary, and a Zoomer. You can imagine which I align with more.

I can relate. I viewed my grandfather as my father. But when you said biological you got me all confused.

My biological mother kicked me out of her house my senior year of highschool. She has isolated me from her side of the family, and has been verbally abusive to both myself and my sisters since we were kids.

My stepmom has been nothing but loving and supportive of me, and has shown me what a parent should be. We have our disagreements, but because of her I am a better person. I would love for her to adopt me, but I am terrified of my biological mother's reaction.

I am not surprised that this answer came from a woman. Mothers and daughts can sadly have really toxic relationships. I hope that you can have bundaries and a modicum of acceptance with your biological mom. I'm also happy that you have that positive mother figure in your stepmother.

My mother is very mentally ill, and I don't hate her for what she did, but until she seeks help, and actually commits to bettering herself, our relationship will remained strained.

I totally hear you. I'm recently divorced from a narcissist and I'm really grateful for the good times because there were. You can be a core good person but if you are not going to work on an issue that is detrimental to yourself and myself I can't go past a certain line with you. So yeah I think that's pretty fair but try to always have respect and you know you did your part right.

I've always been more affectionate towards my biological father. But I've grown to love step dad just as much, I've had a lot of time to do that.

Of course. This is normal. This is what is expected. However, for some people the step parent becimes more dear due to their kind treatment.

Right now, I prefer my "step-father" (he's not married to my mom, just shacking up since 2006) over my father. Why? My father's dead, so he isn't doing much for any of us at the moment.
