Growing up, did you have a favorite activity you would do with your parent (s) or alternatively what do you do with your own kids as a fun tradition?

You know, stuff like dad tossing the ball with his son or mom teaching her daughter how to throw the perfect pass for the NFL.

What was you favorite memory with them or what is your favorite memory with your own kids in fun time spent together.

My dad was a workaholic and my mom was never into recreation much. But I played a lot of checkers and crazy 8's with my grandfather. I spent far more time with my grandfather than my father. We spent a lot of time in the outdoors too. A lot of fishing. Every time I spent a weekend with he and nan, he would take me for KFC even though he barelyhad a cent to his name. Every single time. And he didn't even really like it, he just knew I did. He's been dead since 99, but I still really miss him. And I gotta stop there because I'm tearing up writing this.

When I was young, I would go sledding with my father as soon as there would be snow outside.
It was my all time favorite thing to do with my parent (s) because my father enjoyed doing it too.

I ended up liking whatever it was that my father liked doing, because when it came to pretty much everything else, my parents never shied away from making it known just how much of a bother it was spending time with me.

During the scorching hot Southern California summers, one of the high schools would opened it's swimming pool to the public a few hours in the afternoons. Money in our little 3 person household was always tight, but since the use of the pool was free, my mom would load my sister into the car and off we'd go to the pool.

My mother was a very good swimmer, so she would change into her swimsuit and get into the pool with us. She was young and slender, and very pretty. She seemed so different from the other mom's at the pool. On the way home, we'd stop off for ice cream at the Thrifty Drug Store. A singe-scoop cone was 5 cents.

I have great memories of those pool days.

My father is a car fanatic and he loved the car he had when I was a boy. He had a red Ford Mustang convertible. It looked somewhat like this although I don't know the exact model/year (I didn't take after his passion for cars):

I used to love visiting them at work tbh, lol.
My mom was military so I used to love going to her building and seeing poking all the tanks and trucks. They had "picnics" too so all her coworkers would bring their kids too and we'd run around and play for hours.
Before he retired my dad was a med tech and I used to love visiting him in the hospital and his clinic because we'd always get lollipops, lol. When he became a stay at home dad cooking with him and just hanging out with him was always fun 🤗 I grew up as a complete "daddy's girl" lol.

My dad took every Friday off so he would take me to art museums and out to lunch. A variety of ethnic cuisines. We both loved that.

Every new years day the kids and I bake cookies with my mom. It’s a fun tradition.

And every 3-4 years we take the kids to Disney. Which was hubs and my first vacay together 20 years ago, where we got engaged and where we honeymooned.

I have lots of good memories of my parents. Playing catch with my dad when he got home from work when I was a child. My mom taking to places of interest when I was growing up. My dad unfortunately died young and I was 19 at the time. My mom is elderly and was just moved in to a memory care home today. So today is somewhat of an emotional time for me.

My favorite activity with my mom was going shopping of course. With my dad, he would take my brother and I to the park, swimming, and out to eat. My favorite activity with my family would be playing badminton. That was a popular activity with my family growing up. They played that game with their family growing up. I played it so much became too good at it. Wish it was a sport played in middle and high school. Would been a beast at it in school.

My Mom and Dad were hard workers, and up until my dad passed away, there wasn't much interaction. My daughters, I tried to make sure they were involved in physical activities, softball, t-ball, soccer, tennis, and so on. The youngest wasn't that interested in cars but the oldest wanted to learn how to change oil, fix brakes, and tune-ups. So I taught her those rudimentary things.

I did involve my youngest in my role-playing game on AOL, and we had a lot of fun with that. I took them both to movies from time to time.

My mom we would cook meals.
I would put on my little apron and pretend to be a chef.
My pops we get out and play basketball every night till mom would yell at us that we need go to bed. Or the neighbors was gonna complain we were keeping them up

My father took us fishing a lot. We always caught all kinds of fish and sometimes we would catch sand sharks. Sometimes we would fish for herring with a spear as well. I did this with my own kids but the waters have been overfished and it just is not the same.
