Can the dumpee ever really be friends with the dumper?

I know the dumper can (and will often try) to be friends with the dumpee but can it ever work the other way around? For me despite when all feelings are gone, the fact that I was not good enough for them always hangs over the relationship. Whether or not I was is irrelevant, the fact is at one point they felt this which is why I see it impossible to ever regain a real friendship again?

It's possible. But not while I'm trying to get over it. I didn't want to break-up. But my boyfriend dumped me anyway, and it really impacted me. He tried to be friends using the same old card "I don't want to lose you." Which is nice, if he hadn't have threw me out like garbage.

In the long run, I would never be friends with him in particular because I'm in love with him, and those feelings can only be suppressed. Every time I speak with him they surface, and someone (me) ends up being hurt because of it.

Now, I do have a short few ex-boyfriends that I can be friends with. Only because I feel nothing for them. :l

Funny you should bring this up. Just yesterday the girl I dumped about a year and a half ago started texting me saying she heard my new album and that she lives near me now and she thinks about me. I was really short and cold with her because she's a f*cking psycho and a vampire and everyone who gets close to her ends up worse off for it. I'm sure she wants to be "friends" or maybe even f*ck buddies but it's like I said, always works against me with her. That's why I ended it, and so in my case, no, I won't be friends with people I've dumped. There's a reason I got the hell away from them.
