A couple of notes to solve some perplexities about my family tree
- b. followed by a number means that the person in question is still living
- 19xx - 20xx are the date of birth and death respectively
- my father and my aunt - his sister - have the same birth year because they are twins
- the unknown half-sibling has an estimated birthdate of 1991-1993 because I couldn't find documents on them and don't even know if they are a man or a woman

- my sister's baby has an estimate birth date of 2022 because that's when she/he will be born
- I have excluded my grandfather's illegitimate children because I don't have much info on them and they would have cluttered the family tree

My Aunt / God Mother once took the time to research the family tree. The 'plus' side... in Eastern Europe your Sur name was either the village where your family lived, or... your profession ie; farmer, merchant, potter, cooper, smith, hunter and so on.

Few families ever traveled farther than 20 miles in generations!
In my case, in the 'old world' my paternal ancestors served the local regent at the castle named 'Chojnick' (see attached) and therefore they were 'Chojnicki' as my aunt researched further, suddenly her boasting silenced and was never spoken of again. Best let sleeping dogs lie.

I have researched my paternal family tree back to 400 A. D. when my ancestors came down from Norway as the Raoule's. They worked their way through the highlands and finally settled on the border between what was Pict.
The Kingdom of the Picts just became known as the Kingdom of Alba in Scottish Gaelic, which later became known in Scots and English as Scotland; the terms are retained in both languages to this day. By the late 11th century at the very latest, Scottish kings were using the term rex Scottorum, or King of Scots, to refer to themselves in Latin.
In about 1213 one of my ancestors, William Roule was out in the highlands with the King of Scotland. Suddenly a will highland bull charged the King. My ancestor "took the bull by the horns", wrestled it to the ground, and broke its neck. The Kind immediately knighted him, Sir William Turn-e-bull. Turned the bull.

When I was in elementary school, my teacher gave homework to the whole class. She asked all the students in the class about the family tree and asked the whole class to draw the family tree. We drew these pedigree charts. It was quite crowded and mixed in my pedigree.

Mine is pretty detailed. A guy contacted my dad about a family story that an ancestor was a traveling salesman. That was a proven ancestor of my dad. That opened up an entire other branching. My mom's from her mother's side is harder before they moved from France to Canada. Mainly because the records are in French and my parents don't know it. Luckily for my dad's side, all of the records are in English as both sides of my dad's family grew up there.

Back to around 800AD, yes. It's how I know my ancestors include Saxons, Normans, vikings, Anglo-Saxons and Celts (Welsh & Scots)

Since I did the research I no longer know whether to root for the Britons or the Normans when I read "Ivanhoe", or if I'm happy or disappointed about the arrow in Harold's eye when I see the Bayeux Tapestry...

Yep but sometimes you find things that ruin yours view of everything. I found 3 long lost second cousins and I found my grandfathers uncle was a terrorist in the IRA. Not great lol
