Is meeting people really that easy?

Definitely not easy. I feel like In todays day and age people aren’t as friendly as they used to be and they are too attached to their phones. They would rather associate with people who they are used to associating with rather than associating with people that are face to face with them. I find it way easier talking to older people than people my age and I say this with experience of me waitressing tables. I can’t count how many times people my age have came off awkward to me just because they are “too cool” to associate with the waitress vs older people that love talking and meeting new people

Makes sense. I just have a lot of anxiety to talk to anyone in General. I don't have friends because of it

you your self could be the problem, you can't win them all, but a little comment about things going on around you can be the big difference,

@weysally I am more introverted BUT it’s a common problem with people my age , that they don’t talk to people and mostly stare at their phones and they would rather communicate with people they are used to communicating to.

yes you are right there, but you see I don't take my phone on holiday's with or to be correct, I turn it off and won't answer it, my phone is for emergencies and directions etc, no face book, or emails

no you are right its me, but unless one makes the start then no one will respond, you can't make people talk to each other, I look at it this way, why go away somewhere and do the same things you can do at home, plus there is no way you can even start a conversation with some one when the have things stuck in their ears, its the older generation that want to meet people half way, the youngsters are so wrapped up with phones

It isn't exactly that easy, walk up to a random person and say hi. It is better to be together waiting in a line at the bus stop or at a store and can start talking a little. At least you are there for the same reason, kind of stuck waiting.

I talk to a lot of people while waiting for the bus or train. Sometimes the conversation continues on the bus or train, other times it ends cause I am still trying to do school work while riding.

It is annoying if I'm working on something for school and someone interrupts to try and talk with no good reason but to flirt or say hi.

It can be, my dad says he is not social and shy yet he can talk to a random stranger for an hour or more. I have no clue how, but by the time they are done they are friends.

Meeting people or approaching them for no real reason or common ground is absolutely awkward, you should at least belong to the same school, workplace, gym or whatever.

You can't just try to talk to someone that wouldn't have a clue why you'd approach them

Bottom line is, you need an excuse, even standing in the same waiting line and starting it with asking something related to this is a good intro, just don't think about hi'ing your way into strangers

That's why I just suck it up and don't try and talk to people. The internet exists for me to bitch and complain so that when I go back out into the real world, I can act like I'm not interested in anybody.

that is unnatural and forced. i would likely not want to talk to someone if they did so. it's kind of intrusive also?

I always find it's best to do it in a social setting. Maybe one where alcohol is involved. People are more relaxed then.
