Is it common for a 16 year-old boy to cry upon seeing and holding his newborn baby?

My teenaged brother got his girlfriend pregnant shortly after his 16th b-day and he's still 16. My mother, me and other family members are helping him too. He admitted they made a mistake but didn't want to leave like a coward like our grandfather and father did.

He continues staying by his girlfriend's side and visiting the her family; they're helping too. Upon seeing his baby girl and holding her, he started crying. He kept saying ''that's my girl, my rose, my beautiful girl'' and continue crying more. He got emotional.

Is this a common reaction among a 16 year-old boy?

It's common for men in general to get emotional at seeing their children for the first time.

True but his level of maturity is impressing. He's still just a kid (looks younger than his age), is still growing and he thinks like a grown man. Both my grandfather and father were older than him and they were cowards... but he's different.

Well, he was forced to have to grow up a bit having a kid at a young age. Glad he recognizes the responsibility and loves his daughter.

yeah the girl got lucky he isn't a coward that bails out like most teens his age. He loves his baby girl so much to the point he'll protect her with his life if he ever had to. That's so interesting... parental instinct at such a young age.

I was just impressed and found it so sweet. Several guys his age or even older (my grandfather and father were several years older) didn't care one bit and bailed like cowards. My brother on the other hand loves his daughter so much and has matured so fast... is taking responsibility. It's a ''wow'' moment.
