How common is it for guys (even a teen) to get emotional upon holding their babies for the first time?

How common is that? For a first time father to get very emotional and cry upon holding his baby for the first time?

When my cousin was 16, he got his HS girlfriend pregnant and became a father at age 17. Their baby daughter is now 5 years old and still has his same ginger hair, green eyes and freckles. She's the female version of him while looking nothing like the girlfriend.

When he held her for the first time, he literally broke down. He also said she looks just like him and cried for several minutes. He was only 17 back then and he got emotional.

Aw man, that's actually really sweet about your cousin. It's totally normal for dudes to get emotional when they first meet their baby - doesn't matter if he was 16 or 60. That's a major moment, you know?

Holding your kid for the first time is crazy intense. All of a sudden this little life that half came from you is right there, looking to you as their dad. It probably really hit your cousin in that moment like "woah, I'm really a father now" and how big of a responsibility that is. Plus seeing pieces of himself in the baby's looks probably made it feel even more real.

I'd say most guys do tear up at least a little. How could you not with all those feelings flooding you at once, ya know? It's awesome your cousin was so in touch with all that at a young age too. Shows he's got a big heart. Nothing weak about loving your kid!

So yeah, don't be surprised if when you become a dad someday, you might get a little weepy seeing your baby for the first time. It's normal to feel a lot emotionally - don't fight the feels, just enjoy the moment. Your cousin seems like he's a really sweet guy.

yeah his little girl looks just like she could've been his twin sister. Interesting how she ended up getting those recessive genes. He was the only red-haired and green-eyed person in the family, not anymore. He was forced to mature fast though but I'm impressed he handled it so well, given how young he was.

I would hope a man gets emotional holding his child for the first time. That thing is a miracle in and of itself and should be reacted to as such.

I wouldn't know but people say it's a special moment so I'd say trust that
