Is it inappropriate for boys to walk around the house shirtless? For girls is it inappropriate to walk around in just your underwear?

Like I live in a house with a big family and my older brother feels it’s inappropriate to be walk around shirtless as a boy. He too used to walk around the house shirtless when he was younger but somehow his views on walking around the house shirtless now, as a boy is inappropriate and for the girls to wear short shorts or like no bottoms persay. I get it but I also don’t get it. It’s my home. Can I not feel comfortable enough to do that? You only live once as well. He feels strong that until we get our own place then we can do whatever we please but as we live with other people it’s highly inappropriate. Fair point but I just don’t get it. I find it a little weird that it’s viewed inappropriate

Yes i agree wid him coz you don't want to make other people uncomfortable, as you live in family so you have to respect privacy of each and every one.

I don't think it's inappropriate at all for boys to be shirtless around the house. I live with my uncle and little brother my brother and me are shirtless a lot of the time. What do your parents think about it?

Well my mum. She herself walks around the house bottomless cause it’s her house so I don’t think she sees it as an issue

Seems strange to me, my mom has never cared about me or my brothers wearing a shirt at home. I never wear a shirt when I'm home, my oldest brother goes shirtless sometimes, and its rare for our middle brother to go shirtless. But we are still free to do so.

I've even had girl cousins our age come over and I still don't put a shirt on. You should be comfortable at home. Ngl, I especially don't understand him thinking a guy being shirtless is inappropriate.

We were allowed to walk around in underwear like from our bedrooms to the bathroom or to each other's rooms but not really at breakfast or anything, and the boys and their friends were allowed to not wear shirts just hanging around the house but we had a pool and boys don't wear shirts in a lot of places anyway. We wouldn't have been allowed to just sit around and watch TV in our underwear though we did in bikinis a lot.
