Would it be awkward for a guy to meet a girl for a hiking trip along in the woods?

I started a (New Friends) Meetup group.
I noticed that a lot of people who joined are interested in outdoor activities and hiking.

I was thinking of hosting a hiking event where people who don’t know each other take a walk and talk for a few hours.

It was mostly women who joined this group so it’s likely I would be the only guy so I worry that would be awkward since I would be trying to meet people as new friends.

You are making the assumption they don’t know each other, also they are trusting you don’t know the others.

It is very creepy unless you have a rule if say 5 people not going then it’s cancelled.

there is zero chance would let any friend, guy or girl go alone with a bunch of strangers, who may or may not know each other.

People organising these types of events before have been robbed by those they thought did not know each other.

Hey dude, it’s a cool idea. There are plenty of guys that like hiking and would be interested in joining. Will prob take time.
just set up some standards so it’s not awkward such as ... make it a day hike (no camping), minimum # of people needed, and get a buddy or a few to go with you if your list is only women

Yes, there's lots of good hiking area here. some are pretty hard though so people need to be well prepared.

It's great for later on... talk about wanting to do it... but not early in the relationship.
