Easter is the most holy day for Christians even though Christmas is the most celebrated commercially with toys and tress. On Christmas, Jesus Christ was born. On Good Friday, Jesus was crucified by the Romans. On Easter, which is the Sunday following Good Friday, Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven which then in turn allows us to have a chance to get into heaven if we live a good life. The doors of heaven were opened by Jesus’ sacrifice for us.

So Friday He died and three days later on Easter Sunday He rose from the dead.

In the morning the children wake up to candies. Many are shaped in the form of a chocolate egg or a chocolate bunny rabbit and marshmallow baby chicks as well. This was because the “Easter Bunny” visited and left them candy. The Easter Bunny is like Santa Claus but leaves candy and hides hard boiled colored eggs for the chick drew to find which is called an Easter Egg Hunt. The items have significance and represent new life.

After a family breakfast it is time for prayer at church. Many people wear new clothes or their good/best clothes although this tradition is changing today. Once the family is back there is a day of relaxing family fun, visiting people and a large meal for dinner.

There are many traditions around Easter so that is why the question was asked as while people do many of the same things it can be different, especially after prayers when families get together for relaxation and dinner.

@Jersey2 Wow, colorful eggs are also available to Yazidi Kurds. They have a holiday similar to Easter. On that day, red dirt flowers are hung in the houses, the eggs are boiled and dyed in a colorful way, and the most beautiful clothes are dressed and the neighbors are given bread. I guess colored eggs are a tradition from the Middle East. I also found it amusing as a muslim. I hope one day I will join the colored egg hunt. Can adults do it too?

Yes, adults can join in the Easter Egg Hunt. Also, sometimes the eggs are colored plastic eggs that you can open and they have a piece of candy or a little bit of money. Yes, I think the world is more alike than different even though some traditions are different and we have different languages. Happy Easter!
