I've never felt an appreciation for being born into a world absent choice or say in the matter. At the same time, I think it's generally better for both of our lives to express an appreciation regardless in both ways if we can manage that.
I don't think of "shoulds" in terms of what people "deserve". I am ill-fit to judge what people supposedly deserve. I think of it in terms of what makes our mutual lives better. Mutual appreciation can definitely enrich both of our lives.

There are some relationships that never approach 50/50 and mother/child is one of them. A mother gives so much more than she receives and it is obvious that the child should be expressing appreciation for the mother. Most mother's do not need a designated holiday to express appreciation for their children!
the day itself is just for the mother to be celebrated.

One thing... we should try to make every day a Mothers DayIt’s a day dedicated to all the mothers so yeah the child should appreciate their mom
