Why are parents always trying to control what their child wears?

Happens more often with girls (daugthers), with their mother butttt, guys get it too

Because parents are responsible of their children until they reach adulthood.

Caring parents don't want their children to wear rags, clothes that don't fit, that are inappropriate or that could be misleading.

If a parent tells his/her child to dress properly it is not to annoy the child but to educate him/her about what is acceptable or not.

However, I am against the fact that parents don't leave a certain freedom to their children to wear something that pleases the child. I am, on the other hand, opposed to the fact that children dictate what they want to wear just because their peers wear something. Children should learn to be independent and not just to copy what others are doing or wearing.

@SueShe I, of course, could not agree more with you on that. However, I am experiencing the same "unusually" high temps and will continue to this week. It does appear next week we will see a bit of relief.

I am envious of those nice, cool bike rides you get to take through the forest. 🙂

I mean my kids are young, but I also remember when I was a kid and I'm actually glad my mom didn't let me wear whatever I wanted to be honest..

And I'm grateful to the adults and people who called me out when I dressed too maturely for my age later in life. It taught me class, to respect myself, and how to be sexy without showing off every inch of skin. And in a lot happier that way. It doesn't deter me at all wearing whatever I want or feeling confident.

I honestly can't believe there are so many mom's letting their son's and daughters dressed the way they are. Underwear hanging out, butts hanging out, newly developed boobs damn near popping out for the world to see. Pants ripped almost up to the crotch. It's crazy. Girls at 15 looking like they're my age.

If they are overprotective then they tend to display such a controlling behavior.

My Mom even didn't let me wear any underwear f my choice until I turned 17 years

I haven't had this issue. I never had my parents (growing up) control what I wore. They expected and taught me to dress appropriately depending on where I was going or what I was doing. Nothing more.

I have never once had them say "Priya, that is so inappropriate to wear". I guess common sense just dictates dress according to what you are doing.

Trying to control them. It's super unhealthy to do this. The child will grow up and be rebellious cause they were never able to do what they wanted as a child. Luckily my parents learned with my older siblings so I didn't have to follow rules like that. They let me where whatever, use makeup/dye my hair. My older sister they didn't allow her to do those things and as a adult she went through a rebellious phase instead of doing any adulting.
