Oppressive parents when it comes to dressing?

I come from a half white, half Asian household and I grew up curvy with things like boobs and booty that are considered sexual. I've grown to love myself and be more confident in myself and I want to be wearing shorter clothes and tighter clothes (obviously in moderation and with class) but even if I so pick up a pair of denim shorts my mother says that its slutty and people would think I get around a lot. So many girls my age dress in shorts and crop tops while I am confined to jeans and a t shirt and nothing above the knee. I find it so restraining and so suffocating, especially for a 16 year old girl exploring her femininity and sexuality. Its not my aim to dress sluttily, I was raised Catholic and I have a great amount of self-respect and love for the lord to know when is too far when it comes to dressing. I don't see how wearing a pair of skinny jeans and a crop top is slutty in warm weather. Does anyone have any advice on how to get my mother to be a tad bit more open minded? Thank you (:

You could pick things that are kind of pushing it like a pair of capris that go just under the knee or a shirt that shows your tummy when you lift your arms up. If you slowly transition your mom might not even notice. But you need to talk to her and ask her why it is so important that you dress so conservatively and tell her that she can't stop you from using your sewing skills and altering that Tshirt into a crop top ;) that's how I started.

• Follow your own desires without fear.
• My girlfriend's mum trained her daughter to wear revealing and exposure outfits publicly.
• Now mum and daughter are same direction.
