They're not, generally speaking.

Mine's super cuddly and affectionate. He loves to hold my hand or snuggle up when I'm sleeping.

If a cat is being "mean" to you, it's because you're crossing one of its boundaries and it doesn't like that. But because they're, well, cats, they can't just say "Excuse me, Karen, please put me down".

They will just claw you to gtfo of dodge.

Respect cat boundaries and you'll have no problem.

They're quite loving if you treat them right. As least any I've owned. Have to show them love and affection. But some are more naturally than others. As an example in that pic, cats don't like to be picked up that way lol.

My cats aren't mean - they're just self-centered animals that can be very friendly and affectionate, or very aloof and unaffectionate. Depends how they are raised and their life conditions.

It’s all about how well they’re raised. Same with any other living creature. Especially humans. lol Smarter creatures seem to have greater need of good raising, and cats can be very smart.

Most cats take a swipe at you even if you overpet them sometimes they even bite you lightly. Some cats are sensitive around their ribs they don’t like to be petted around there.
