How important is father in a sons life?

Does he need to be there to teach his son how to be a man?

Kids do pay attention to their same sex role models, and they learn from their example.
My dad was a strong guy, he worked a lot, and he always made sure we had what we needed. I took his example and I made sure to always go to work, take care of my wife and child, and always make sure they had what they needed.
I think my son will remember how much I care about him, and how important it is to take care of your children. I think he also learns a lot of other things in our conversations as well. It is nice to have a father figure.

My father was a major influence on me. He taught me about honor , duty, and fairness. I also figured out that I should do the opposite of some of the stuff he did.
I hope that I was a good role model for my two sons.
