How to deal with an invasive mother who is persistent to have you install an app that tracks your location?

My mom is quite invasive, I talked to her several times about my privacy and she will nod and continue her ways the next day. She made me get this app that tracks my location and I deleted it. She noticed like a week later so I suppose she is quite actively checking on me. She asked me to reinstall it persisting that she doesn’t trust cab drivers. Wtf? I feel like a lab rat being watched from a cage.

Forcing a person who is not a minor anymore to do something like this, is not healthy. I would say tell her you are your own person and that you understand her desire to ensure your safety, but ultimately, that is your responsibility. Do NOT let her force you into it. I would say your best bet would be to "draw a line in the sand" and hold firm to it.

As a parent I can understand why she wants you to have the app. As someone who was a kid once I can see why you don't want to use the app. How about if you both compromised. You turn off the app when you're with friends and you turn it back on when you get in a cab or are walking alone.

I can understand why she wouldn’t trust cab drives though. If it were me I’d willing install the app and make sure all my friends knew whenever I’m getting into a cab alone lol
