I had a dog for many years who normally slept at the foot of my bed, but now and then she'd climb in next to me. I don't think that dogs find beds comfortable, but they want to be closer to us.

I had a girlfriend with a cat, and the cat loved to sleep on my chest (oddly enough the cat never slept on the girlfriend). It was a nice cat, and the extra warmth was nice in the winter.

My SO has a small dog whose breath is lethal. I do not appreciate the dog sleeping with us.

My dogs never liked dog beds either. They either slept on the couch or on the bed with us. Then we have 3 cats that sleep by us too. They are great in the winter for warmth but not in the summer

    Cat yes, dog hell no.
Dogs are territorial animals and things can turn out in a way you'd never expect, in the worst way possible. Especially when most people think "oh my 'poor' dog wants to sleep with me".
When in fact what is happening is that you're basically telling the dog that he owns you and he can say no to you, be rude and even show aggression. Why? Because your bed is your most special territory, where you sleep, and by letting the dog sleep on your bed, you tell him that you're co owners.
I speak from experience, and there are hell of a ton of videos to back it up and of course science proves it.

I once saw an insect in my house which might have been a tick or a flee and this is when I used to own a dog, so I met let a cat sleep with me, but only certain breeds of dogs, the ones that are clean and insect free.

I like animals from a distance. Even if i was willing to cuddle with one, i wouldn't allow it to live indoors. It would have a nice pethouse built outdoors

I had to forcibly live indoors with a dog once. He was told by his owner not to poop in his cage. So he stuck his tale out and pooped all over the floor. I woke up to thay surprise the next morning when i slipped in it and slid into the kitchen 😭

Yes, our Boston Terrier would actually let us share her bed, or so it must have seemed to her! She had a whole ritual: lay by your feet atop the blankets for a half hour: climb under and burrow down to your feet another half hour: come back up until she was at the pillow for the rest of the night. Then, scruff at your pillow at 4:00 am to go potty. Just like clockwork.

I let my cats sleep wherever I want... sometimes they choose to snuggle up on my bed, especially during winters, some other times they go to their own beds or other spots around the house or outside, lol

I've never owned or WOULD EVER own a cat!!
I MIGHT let a dog sleep with me as long as it's not a type I'm allergic to but, I'd be concerned with it shedding all over the bed and possibly bringing bugs into bed with it.

I'd you bathe the dog and put flea and tick medicine on them they won't have bugs on them.

I suppose but, I'd still rather no risk it. I love dogs and wish I had one but, I don't think I love them THAT much.

my cat will pull down my blanket and lay next to my heart... then hangs unto my hand, so we hold hands and fall asleep together, this is how it is now.

before, I had both feet broke, I had to learn to sleep on my back, so while laying on my back, he would pull down my blanket, lay on top of me facing my face, still close to my heart... that way as well, until I fell asleep.
