What does it mean if a friend leaves you on read twice?

So my online friend (been friend for 7 months) left me on read twice in a row (a few hours ago). No idea why. And my friend is quite active on the social media that we use to talk. It sucks because yesterday, my friend seemed to care and responded to my messages much faster than that. I find it kinda insulting considering that I asked a question and was expecting an answer.

So I double texted my friend (a few hours after I've been left on read) and guess what? I've been left on read again! I don't understand people sometimes. Like, if you don't wanna respond at the moment, at least don't open it 🙄

This is probably one of those situations that you wanna talk about with him in person. Some people just really suck at texting. I'm talking with a woman right now who is a flat out awful texter. We know that about each other though. Text just isn't the best medium for us to communicate.

Yeah but it's an online friend, though. Never called her so it would feel awkward (especially if I do it randomly).

You should just ask her about it the next time she responds.

Or maybe you're just over thinking and your friend is going through something that suddenly appeared in their life. They are not obligated to answer you immediately.
I understand it's frustrating but people have lives.

Yeah well my friend lives 6 hours ahead of me, so she first read it at 11am and left me on read again at 1pm, so it's possible. But it still sucks considering that she was online even after leaving me on read.

You're very far away from each other and anything from worst to best can happen within just a few hours.
It takes seconds to ruin someone else's life.
Be considerate and give them the time they need

That's good.
I also used to be like you, I expected the same thing.
But I learned to think differently, instead after I send someone a message, I see it more as a privilege that someone responds back to me and after we're done conversing, I thank them for their time to let them know that I appreciate the time they dedicated to talk to me when instead they could do other things which are far more important :)
Tl;dr
I dont expect anything from anyone and I thank people for their given attention.

No one thinks about it but everyone love the small things, especially when they notice that you appreciate their attention, so they would be prone to answer you more often or quicker.

Your friend doesn't want to answer your question or is going through something and needs space. Maybe he/ she doesn't know what to answer and is probably confused
