My dad's parents died and I don't get to see my mom's parents often since they live far away.

Currently I don't have the best relationship with my parents but I hope the tension dies out. I don't really converse with my dad (but we're usually on good terms) but my mom and I quarrel a lot. She always seems to find something about me to complain about but I'm trying.

Your okay kid!! Everyone goes through that!! I know my mom still pics things out about me and I am closes with her. I promise as long as you keep an open mind about what she is saying and in fact want a solid relationship with them both you will come around to where you are best friends with them both.

I've been around my mom since forever. I haven't regularly been around my dad since age 2 and thats by choice. He asked for more time. My mom offered him more time. But ultimately its up to me and i just didn't care to be around him. I see him once every few years

Truth!! I mean you don’t seem to have lost much in the long run either. A big thing is always that men influence their daughters most and woman influence their sons most. But you don’t appear to have daddy issues.

Like it’s not often but every now and then you find a woman who’s kids are solid and Independent because she did so good! Like your mom must be a rock star!

@Th3ft i mean he didn't do anything wrong at the time to not sound great about... He tried hard to see me for 12 years and i always dodged him. After that, my mom would force me to go visit and i’d beg to come back home soon. I tried to give him a chance when i graduated college and realized we’re very much alike but he's more like my mom and theyre both toxic and moneyhungry. So now i dodge him because he's not someone i’d want to be around. And sadly my mom didn't raise us to be independent. Sure she made sure we’d be booksmart and respectful. But she is mentally weak. she's physically strong but never taught us to be physically nor mentally strong. I became mentally strong as a coping mechanism for what i went through in my first relationship. Im physically strong enough to defend myself but im no fighter. So yea my mom did a good job in ensuring we’re still alive but she's toxic and never wants us to leave the nest.

@Th3ft i was ready to move to NC in early 2020. Then the pandemic hit and i just lost motivation. I definitely do not stay for her. I stay because I’m comfortable at home, uncomfortable on planes with people who might be sick, and rent has tripled

Gotcha! That is fair! I mean yeah I was struggling with wether to move back in with my parents too because I don’t know that I can afford it. But so far I have managed to stay afloat.

Yeah yikes! I mean I definitely am horrible with spending so I don’t have that savings but I am hoping that with some future changes I can get to having a savings of rent built up. You want it to be at least six months. But yeah I think that the market is about to come down. We will see how bad things are though when they do

@Th3ft im trying to get my health back right first. I went to the doc yesterday and they said the pressure in my head is lessening. The medicine they have me on unfortunately would negatively effect pregnancy

Oh good! I mean I didn’t know you had pressure in your brain but I’m glad it is lessening! Do they know what is causing it? And yeah medications tend to effect babies in weird ways…

@Th3ft haven't had headaches since i took the meds. The headaches first started back last year but before that, it was only ongoing 2012 and 2013

I am pretty close to both of me parents but I am definitely closer to my mom. And as for family my whole family is closer to my moms side. Lol! I might get even venture to say that my dads family is even closer to my moms side.
