Is it still common to pretend to hate the girl or guy you like?

Is that stupid method still common during the school years?

Either the girl or guy likes their crush so much but has a hard time expressing themselves or don't want their classmates knowing it. So instead of being nice, they act mean or can even somewhat bully them. They think they don't make it obvious by doing that.

I've heard others have (when they were kids or in their early teen years) behaved like that with the opposite gender. They were mean and kind of a bully to their crush but secretly like or love them.

From what I hear on here, yes it's a common occurrence. I see where this girl will get this guy's attention and then just ignore him. Like he doesn't exist anymore. Makes no fucking sense to me whatsoever

Exactly. That reduces the chance of the person liking them back or actually getting to know each other better. Then by the time they admit it or get find out... it's too late. No bonding has been established.

I don't know who came to the conclusion that this type of flirting works but why it is still implemented today I totally don't get it. If you like someone, go up and talk to them. See how the chemistry goes. Here's a novel idea, hey I saw you from across the way and I think you're kind of cute. I'd like to get to know you a little better

I never really understanding acting mean to a crush. By the time the crush finds out, he/she isn't going to like them back.
