Why is it on a school night you have little black teeny boppers going out at 2:00 am to commit crimes. I think parents should be held accountable for their kids crimes. Then again there are a lot of kids who hate their parents too.
+1 yYou'd hate your parents if they are telling you right from wrong, but in the long run it is good for you, unless you are me, being an overgrown adults is no excuse for being with your parents and still being mad with them for your procrastination. Aside from that, most parents don't want to parent anymore, they'd rather be their kids friend than to be their parent and I mostly blame the once popular WB show Gilmore Girls for this, because sometimes she would be her friend and not her parent, but she at least does parent sometimes I guess. We're in a "snowflake generation," everyone who was born after 1990 and 2000 wants their feelings protected little Ray Ray and little Jackie has to have everything before and after their birthdays, so you got to rub their heads, kiss them and tell them they're the best, when they're not. run out, go shoot someone, get your paper, paper soldiers, screw those who just want to do good, because good is boring, no one wants that, the world idolizes criminals, gangs and corrupt mischiefs and deviants who have no consideration for the older generations, easy to be hard easy to be cold, especially people care about strangers, who care about evil and social injustice, it's just the kids today get everything handed to them on a silver platter.

I think this should be a gradient, if your toodler manage to commit a crime it could be 100% responsible, but the older they get the more liberty and responsibility they get and that includes punishment for doing dumb shit. They should reach 100% responsibility when counted as an adult, useally at 18. It's not like we should jail parents to kids who murder. The kid should be jailed but not be jailed in an adult jail, they need a different treatment plan.

+1 yBecause kids can be rebellious and sneaky. A parent can not hold their child's hand 24/7 or have their eyes glued to them at all times. At 2am you expect your kid to be asleep like you, not sneaking out to strbut let's be real, we've all had our rebellious moments as teens/kids that don't want to be told what to do. Honestly I don't necessarily think that's fair, yes parents have a responsibility to take care if their kids and teach them right from wrong, but if your kid choices to do wrong even when told not to then that's the consequences they have to bare. It's just not possible to know every thought and move person is going to di before they do it, people aren't psychic or have crystal ball showing them what's going to happen. If that's the case terrible crimes and incidents would have never happened cause we would stopped them before they did.
Also look at all the infamous serial killers, a lot of them grew up in loving homes and still turned out bad and start killing people in their 20s, 30s, and 50s. Should parent be charged for what their adult child does in secrecy?

+1 yParents are legally responsible for their children. If they are getting out at night they should be doing something about it. It’s a sign parents have lost control. Disrespect and challenge. Challenge right back.
Too many parents just don’t give a damn though.02 Reply- +1 y
@Apple1996 But we’re talking about accountability here. That would mean it’s discovered.

+1 yWhat does race have to do with anything? 🤔 since we’re on the subject… Should the parents of the children who 🔫 schools be held legally responsible? 🤔 I mean after all there “has” to be some neglect or abuse going on in THAT community.. They’re the only ones committing the school 🔫’s.. 🤔

+1 yIf the parents did the best they could to teach the kid right and wrong then it's the kid's fault. Of course if they're like under 12 maybe it's understandable but once they're mature enough to know what is right and wrong, it's on them.
I mean c'mon. There are many teenagers who are doing just fine without getting themselves into trouble.
10 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. Nah teenagers are old enough to know better. I have kids and I know for a fact that I cannot control their actions. I can only influence them to make the right choices but that's doesn't always work.
06 ReplyWhen I child does something wrong people already look at the parent and wonder where they went wrong. They are already "accountable" for them. But at the end of the day you are still responsible for your own actions. Period.
00 ReplyParents can surely mold kids to make them a better person by giving good healthy environment, cheering and guiding bad behaviours in good neighborhood but that's all they can do whatever the kid becomes and sees or does is on the kid

+1 yParent is sleeping and can’t stay up 24/7 to watch the kid and has to get sleep so they can go to work and you think a sleeping unconscious parent should be Held Accountable for the kid opening the door and leaving when the parent has no Idea

+1 yWhy are the teeny boppers black? Why are you racist?

So yeah, you're just racist and completely ignore the institutions that make it so young black women face more difficulties than their white peers, got it.
Bye, racist~
+1 yThey’re Mom probably doesn’t care or know where they are and they don’t have a father. Look at the statistics for crime. Predominantly single low income moms no dads

+1 yI agree but it would be hard to enforce and they'd just commit more crimes to pay for the fines.

+1 yWhy would the parents who did not commit any crimes be held accountable for what their kids did? No They Should Not

+1 yYes they didn't raise them right. The mother had to work and the dad too. If they use parents guns in a crime , the parents should be charged too.

+1 yAccountable... in part yes, though I think liable would be better terminology.
00 ReplyDepends on the situation. For example, the Texas school shooting. I think the mom should've been held accountable. She knew he had guns

00 ReplyThat is why I choose not to have children and never have regretted it
