My best friend of 18 years ditched me because I did not match her financially or socially and I wonder if I will have a best friend again cause I met my bff when we were kids and adults are so picky about their friends, they consider so many things that kids and family members don’t care about like whether you drive a car, own your own home, can give them cooking and gardening advice, have enough to party, have the same BMI as them etc..

Growing up and going out. I had like 30 " friends" I would go out with as I got older.. I fizzled out the ones that were only there for certain reasons. The older you get money, status means nothing. As long as the person is there when you're at your lowest.. those are the friends that count

I don't think so, I was about to say my mother but she's called me useless back when I was 16, I love her and we have a great relationship but I don't forget anything, my best friend of 15 years didn't betray me or anything but he saw others betraying me just watched and then "talked" to me about it after the fact, so no I don't believe so, and yea it does change if you're the shit, like once I lived alone in a different country started martial arts looked really good and made a bit over 4000€ working with my uncle, yea suddenly there was absolutely no judgement, actually I found it, my dogs have my corner, dogs>humans...

You can probably still find yourself another close friend, especially one that won't ditch you for reasons like those. I think the main issue is relationships, especially ones that close, take a lot of years and enduring hardships together to create that bond.
