It's always sad, sorry. One of my best friends moved to another continent, it was very sad, we continued talking often and all but tbh is just not the same anymore and the contact diminishes from both sides because we obviously spend more time with the people we have around, that doesn't means the friendship is over tho. You can try to keep contact talking, watching a movie together, playing games, wishing them a happy bd/Christmas/whatever.
