That's not what he was trying to say. His message was that you will have someone closer to your age with whom you can have a greater connection with. I used to have gatherings with family members who were like third cousins, fourth aunt's, I don't even know what relations were, but they were mostly 60+ year-olds and I was the only teenager there. You think it's fun being the outlier like that? Finally a couple of cousins were able to tag along who were my age and I got to play and chat with them instead of sitting at the table with a bunch of elderlies.
That doesn't mean they don't love you anymore. If I had to guess, they do still love you. They didn't say you can't hang out with "old people" they said you can hang around with younger people. I'm sure if you wanted to hang around with them or spend time with them they'd let you. They probably figure you don't really want to.

Probably he wants you to build a better relationship with your siblings.
"You don't have to be around old people anymore" almost as though he is hinting go away already you're old enough to not want to cling to mommy and daddy.
Don't parents still love their kids even if they want them to be independent.
