Any tips on potty training?

My son will be potty training here soon & I was wondering if there was any tips you could give me to help while my SO is at work?
With girls, I think it would be easier, just sit on the potty & go... But I have a boy & I don't know what to do!
I've heard the whole "use Cheerios" bit & I'm totally down for turning it into a game, but how do I go about the rest of it?
My brother was a "private pooper", he would go to a whole separate room & do his business, but had a hard time pooping on the potty...
I'm going to let daddy take the reigns on this one, but I'm home more than he is...
Any tips would be helpful!

Don't worry about Cheerios. First get him using the potty. You can teach him to stand and aim once he's not pissing in his pants!

The same goes for your son.

Take him every hour whether the nappy is wet or dry. He'll get the hang of it.

I've heard many times from people that sit them down every like 20-30 mins and have them blow up a balloon... it uses the diaphragm and they push where they don't have a way to stop it... they get use to pottying and it becomes natural for them to go.

If you have a son and he's aiming it in the toilet just like he should be, be ready when he has to sneeze a lot because pee goes all over everything, including you Mom.

That would happen to my son and I every morning when his allergies would kick in. But I still love him.

Get some quasi hardwood laminate 5-10mil flooring installed Ed so that the Piss Pistol Pees bead easily on floor

I have daughters but all that really worked was letting them tell me when they were ready.

Tip 1: the poop goes in the toilet, and not on the walls or in mommy's hair.
