+1 yit's probably too late for him. I was conditioned to do so as a kid as i grew up w/ my mom and sister.
I will say, to all the guys who say "oh we leave it up so we dont pee on the seat", do you inconsiderate dumbfucks ever consider WIPING OFF the seat if you pee on it?
I am completely dumbfounded how pissing on a seat and leaving it is somehow acceptable. Men seriously are pieces of shit sometimes.
Sorry lady, but it just seems like you got a inconsiderate dumbfuck. You'll probably just have to live w/ it, unfortunately.12 Reply- +1 y
and i dont even mean for the ladies. I go into public/workplace bathrooms to shit and see piss all over the toilet seat sometimes.
Guys who do that seriously deserve to be given swirlies filled w/ piss and shit

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI hate it when girls complain about leaving the toilet seat up but they leave the lid up. I've been trying to get my younger sister to put down both the seat and the lid but she keeps "forgetting" to put down the lid.
Here's an incentive. With the lid up, germs from the toilet spurt up and can get all over your tooth brushes. So, always put the lid down before flushing. Been doing this since I was about 10

See that is what i am asking!!! Becauseof the germs n so many people dont understand that!!! My boyfriend does put it down but roommate doesn't out of spite!!! I have been sick for 3 weeks because ofit!!! N have to keep getting new toothbrushes!!! Frustrating!!!
Opinion Owner+1 yRight... It's disgusting, and if he's doing it out of spite then I don't know if there is much you can do... Other than seeing if you can get him kicked out.
- +1 y
I have been trying to!!! I actually have a question about that somewhere on here
Opinion Owner+1 yAs long as his name is not on the lease or under as the owner of the house and you are, then you should be able to kick him out. I guess it also comes down to your boyfriend and if his name is also on it and if he is willing to kick him out. I guess you can always become a bitch and clean the toilet with his toothbrush and not tell him. If that makes you feel better. If you're too kind hearted for that, then I don't know.
Opinion Owner+1 yOh and also... here's what I do.. I just don't keep my toothbrush in the bathroom. You can also just put it in a plastic bag. Either one. Keeps you from having to get a new one constantly.
+1 yOh, I have a very easy solution to this problem. Honestly, it's so simple, you don't even have to do anything.
You ready?
Blow it out your ass.
A toilet seat is not an issue, nobody cares, stop bringing it up.
If you fall in because you fail to use your eyes and look where you're landing dat ass, that's entirely your fault and your problem.

Yeah, exactly. It's such a non-issue.

+1 yI think it depends on some things, if it's the girls place, he needs to learn to put it down, if it's the guys place, then leave it up. If you live together then you're on your own.
I have to keep it closed whenever it's not in use cause I have cats and I don't want them drinking out of the toilet bowl.00 Reply
I always would put the toilet set back up after flushing. It was easier for me to remember to do that , than I was for my husband to remember to lift it. No point in setting on a seat he pissed on. Growing up with mostly brothers it just became a habit, put the set back up because my brothers where lazy.

Honestly, this is somewhat the most hilarious gender-based double standard post I have seen quite in a while.
+1 yIt's hard to get them to go by your rules, i think you like to be controlling, i mean it's very cute how you are but if they is ignorant than you need to lay the law down, what you want them to do your the only female in your house, so you like to be dominating your age is 25-29 seems like kind of immature but not by far, cause you like to dominate them guys , like i said, maybe your better off having your own place, or room-mate with a girl, you seem not to be
comfortable with these living situations with you and these two guys.00 ReplyIt bothers me that so many men want to leave the toilet seat and lid up. When the bowl is uncovered like that, the water releases large amounts of bacteria onto the rest of the bathroom, can create porcelain shock on people who stumble into the bathroom half-asleep (which makes it harder for them to fall back asleep), and it often just looks nasty. Men should lower the seat and lid. I do.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yYou don't "train" a person to do anything. If you're of this mindset that you have to "train" your husband to do things, then I have to be the dick to say that you have an old fashioned outlook on marriage and how you should treat people. He's not a dog that you have to train through repetition and reward. You both speak the same language.
As for the toilet seat dilemma, why can't you put it down? You're a woman but you're not royalty. If you're meaning to put BOTH seats down, then that's understandable. Just put it down when you're done and tell him that he should be doing the same, for sanitary reasons. If he forgets, simply remind him.
But if you're meaning just the one seat, then you're going to have to get over that. He puts it up when he uses it, you put it down. I hardly think your arm will fall off if you have to put a 1/2 pound toilet seat down.10 Reply
+1 ymy skin crawled when i read the word "train" lol
just ask him nicely..if he docent do, it just keep asking nicely...
i never got why this is as big deal to some..if he dosent EVER want to do it tell him that you guys need to buy a house with two bathrooms..lol30 ReplyI've fallen in the toilet before because he left it up at my house and I'm used to never having to check. I screamed at him to come save me. He still doesn't put it down lol. Its the same way with us leaving it down- probably aggravates them to see it down as much as it aggravates us to see it up
13 Reply- +1 y
I've never understood this. If the seat or lid is down I don't just piss all over it. What's so hard about looking before you sit? I use to always joke in my bachelor pad days that ladies who came over to remember to put the seat back up. Now that I'm married I always put the seat down. My mom nagged that into me at a young age. Now that I live with a lady I do what's considered polite even though I still don't understand what the point is.

+1 yYou can't. I shared a washroom with my 4 brothers when I was living at home, and it was seriously a point of contention between us all until I just let it go. The worst thing you can do is nag about it as well, that doesn't accomplish anything. When you go to the washroom, put the seat down yourself.
13 Reply- +1 y
Also "train"? LMAO! He is not a dog or a cat.
- +1 y
Um... if you put the seat down and you have 4 brothers, then you're acting against what 80% of the household wants when they use the bathroom. That is absurd, in that case, the girl should adapt.
- +1 y
So I should have been putting the seat back up as well? If I have time to put the seat down they have time to put it up. People should take care of themselves.
+1 yGet his favorite candy and wait for him outside the bathroom, when he comes out and the seat is up, tell him to go in and put it down, when he does give him a treat and say "good boy" keep doing it until he gets it
30 ReplyThe toilet seat issue is destroying our relationship. I am in my late 50s and I have a boyfriend of the same age. The house is mine. I put up with a lot from him. The only thing that drives me crazy is that every day for the past two years he has left the toilet seat up. EVERY F****** DAY! When I mention it, every day, he is always very apologetic. I asked if he has some passive aggressive rage against me. He says no, he just forgets. He is not as smart as I'd like a man to be, I know this, but he is good in other ways. Can someone really be this dumb I'll n this area. What do I do?
00 Replyyour choices are:
1) having a his and hers pair of bath rooms
2) trade him in for a girl friend
3) or just learn how to put the seat down yourself AND don't forget to pick it up , I swear you can't image how frustrating it is for us guys to have to bend down and lift that seat ever time before we can pee when we know perfectly well we left it up for a reason02 Reply- +1 y
Is it really that hard to lift it up on your own? lmao.
1. train yourself to always leave it up, remark: "fair is fair, equal time for all" then
2. make a deal that every other week = vice versa (i.e. up, then down)
3. Home Depot sells replacement "seats" that gradually go down when gently encouraged
4. If you begin to find the seat down during your week, forget to raise it
5. he has been trained02 Reply- +1 y

Here's what you should do:
* Do the guy a favor and break up with him now, as if you're going to honestly obsess over using such infantile irrelevant non-issue as a stick to beat him with, the poor guy is in for a life of hell.02 Reply
Opinion Owner+1 yTo answer your question though: Show him a video like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eB-l05yiwvY
Opinion Owner+1 yIf it's so important to you though just close the damn toilet seat when you go in the bathroom, you're an adult human being, if you can't even do that I don't know how you manage to tie your shoelaces and survive without forgetting to breathe.
310 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. It's easier jut to train a guy to sit to pee, that way you don't haft to worry about him forgetting to put the seat down. If you don't want to train him to put the seat down, you could always install a device, to where he has to insert a quarter to put the seat up, and in order to get the quarter back he has to put the seat down.

+1 yYou humans and your toilets. I just do my thing from a branch, no need to bother myself with seats.

+1 ySeriously? He's not a dog. You can't "train" him. Look before you sit down. It's not that hard. Being pregnant is not an excuse. It takes literally two seconds to put down a toilet seat.
04 Reply- +1 y
I have had 3 kids, this is my 4th and on top of that i have medical issues where it is difficult even when im not pregnant i still have a difficult time making it to the bathroom (i just didn't think i needed to bring up my personal health) to explain why i ask for the seat to be put down!!! Its just plain common courtesy to put it down!!!
- +1 y
Why would it not be "common courtesy" to put it up for the man then? Realistically, everyone should look out for themselves. Men have to take the time to put the seat up when they use it so women shoudn't complain if they have to put it down. It's honestly not that big of a deal. I always have to put the seat down when I use it at my boyfriend's house..it doesn't bother me at all.
- +1 y
There is a lid for a reason, also if you dont shut the lid toilet water splashes everywhere and causes jerms and bacteria to spread its unsanitary and im the only one who scrubs the bathroom!!!
- +1 y
Okay then if it bothers you so much, tell your husband. But you can't "train" a human being. You can explain how you feel and hope that he's receptive of that but ultimately his decisions are his own to make. If he just has a poor memory then make a note and leave it in the bathroom. That's about all you can do.
