Is it normal to miss my partying days?

My wife and I have an 7 year-old daughter. We were only 19 year-old when we had her and we got married 2 years later.

I still feel young at age 26 and last month, I went out partying with my old friends and we got drunk. I've only been doing this 2-3 times a month. My male cousin and a family member had to take me home yesterday. It was 1am and I was very drunk. My wife was upset. Is it normal to miss my partying days?

When I was with my friends, I felt like a young guy again, free of responsibility, free of being forced to grow up too early.

It's normal... but I think I've gotten to that age where I see it as not just a waste of time, but I see it as a bad habit. Everybody is different though.

I would question any guy that's still being a dog of a pack, rather than just a lone wolf. We usually team up to achieve a goal or practice a hobby like shooting guns or boxing... but getting together to get fucked up is just... it's just... it's a hobby you don't need instruction on how to get it down might need some training and not something you want to get really good at. Plus, from my own experience, it leads to the "friends" always trying to up the "fun" in some ways your wife, kid, parents, and yourself probably wouldn't approve of. Drinking turns to whores and sniffing a white line off a hookers butthole quicker than you think. It can also lead to trouble with the law. You're making a trade for that kind of fun... that "fun" isn't going to feel like it's worth it once you're gaining even more consequences from that fun.

Perspective... you're wife was just fun at some point right? that turns into some serious shit, but at least it can become some serious shit you can take pride in. How many beers you can slam and how fucked up you can get can turn into some serious shit too... some people take pride in the results, but nobody is really going to give you a pat on the back in the long run for it.

I'm just drinking right now waiting for my kid's bedtime... I'm not a saint. Wife is "out to sea" as they say in the navy... so I'm indulging and writing this because I got jack shit else to do right now. I'd rather be doing this than accepting one of the probably expensive party plans my stupid friends hit me up with here and there for sure. My smart friends want to do nothing more than talk. That's me, I know my safe options, and I know my unsafe options. You are you though... you'll have to make your own choices.

Also for what it is worth your wife probably was not angry because you partied and what not but because of how you did so.
Had you both arranged care for your daughter over the weekend and gone together she might have felt very different.

I strongly believe people don't change much after 20 or so. Whether 20 or 70, we're basically the same mentally with different experience and bodies.

My wife was upset because our daughter saw me very drunk for the 2nd time. I was walking in a sloppy manner but I still hugged and kissed my child. I'm still an affectionate, dedicated father even if I were drunk.

Of course your wife got angry having to explain and cover for you. But this is great. With her being all reasonable you can also solve things in the same fashion.

Most people, including myself, are just the opposite. It's something to grow out of and never look back. You have a wife and kid. You need to stop doing that shit.

I quit partying at a fairly young age also. I don't miss it at all.

I know. My wife was upset when I was drunk and it woke up our daughter. My little girl saw me drunk and thought I was trying to be funny. I'm still affectionate even when drunk.
