Trending & News If you do not like the word belong. Then let's use the word responsibility. Is the child Primarily the chief responsibility of the father or mother?

I'm going to start by saying please don't procreate.
I have a son with my wife. Who is primarily responsible for him? I am.
That doesn't negate what my wife's role is.
In another answer you asked can a company function with two CEOs. Obviously not, but as I'm CEO of my company I can say I'd be lost without my CFO. Who has more responsibility? Neither. The roles are equal but different.
A man CANNOT be a mother. A woman CANNOT be a father. There are inherent traits about the other gender that cannot be bestowed by each other. We're designed to work together to fix the problems childhood brings for the child.
At some point - even with cloning and artificial insemination - a man is involved. No man, no baby. It's that simple.
So "primarily belong to" is a bullshit question. Primary responsibility is bullshit.
My son would be worse off for different reasons is either my wife or myself died/left.
My T levels are fine thanks.
Like I said, my son is my primary responsibility.
What I didn't say is he's only 4. My first sentence herein refers.
My imploring you not to procreate is more because you felt the need to ask this question.
Of course the father is primarily responsible. If your intention was to make men think about it, rather post a MyTake next time...
Ideally a child belongs to both parents equally but when it comes down to it, the child belongs primarily to the mother. Granted this is an opinion formed during a time where men have been minimised in the family structure, but I believe that women grow the baby inside them and feed them their breast milk and so the children belong most to them. Also trying to change the mind of a woman who does/doesn’t want babies is a fruitless task as they are he ones who will primarily be looking after them.
Fathers are needed to create a baby and work together with the mother to protect and provide for the baby, but it is the mother who is expected to be the primary carer. I guess as a consolation, if the child does something wrong you could always say that they are their mothers child all right. 😁
I believe I've touched on the degradation of the west with this question. A child has always historically belonged to the father. But as you mentioned, the minimalistic trend of the importance of father's has caused males to hand over their truth wealth over to the woman and state... Without even a fight. It's tragic. Most developing nations do not think like this.
It depends on who is going to stay at home. I know many men who happen to live at home to care for their children because they are out of work, and their wives are not, and many opther reasons. I think primarily it should be the mother's job to stay at hoe because she has that nurturing, gentle kind nature that we see in mothers, but there is absolutely no reaon why men could not share that role. They can learn a lot from it.
Children fare better with their fathers but mothers sacrifice more initially. The mother has the responsibility to socialize/educate the kid (at least for the first few years) and the father has the responsibility to, at least, protect his family.
Well said.
Admittedly I did expect the results that I've currently received. I for one believe children belong to their father's. If I prepare a cake and put it into an oven, it does not belong to the oven. Lol
Equally if I lease you my car and you add a new engine. Change the wheels or alloys, maybe even give the car a spray paint. That car still belongs to me!
Each passing day my belief that the west is a gynocratic institution is solidified.
Children definitely need both parents to do their absolute best, who both helped to create, otherwise there's issues. Moreso in cases without the father, I usually dont hear about motherless homes as much as I do about fatherless homes.
I think INTP but my understanding of cognitive functions is the best so I'd have to look into it more.
So now you've comparing women to a pice of kitchen equipment. Nice metaphor (not). So the woman's egg means nothing? The oven in your metaphor only heats. The woman provides the base for what your little seed goes into. But you clearly by your metaphor a stuck on the women = kitchen attitude so I'm not wasting anymore time or energy on your "statements."
@PamelaRivers
The child belongs to the father. It is his autonomous seed that the female body initially tries to kill. It is his seed that has to battle her body until she has no choice but to accept the seed. The seed then begins to utilise her body to grow itself further.
As a mother you have an important part to play, but don't forget that your body initially tries to kill the seed. It is by sheer will and determination that the seed submits you.
The child belongs to the father. End of.
The egg is the woman's. And yes we do have a choice. Or are you promoting rape to?

In a ''normal'' relationship this should not even be a question.
In less fortunate cases most countries have interfered with common sense, and made the question a political/financial one. With the general (''western'') tendency to ruin the father, to ''entitle'' the mother, and to not care about the kid's development until it's ready to pay taxes; or to vote.
Unless a child is mis-used to become the tool in a (former) couple's personal quarrels it morally 'belongs' to the parent who is better qualified, more interested-determined to raise it, and most of all: the one that the kid feels best with.
That can be both parents at the same time, of course.
I don't see myself as a ''legacy'' of my father, or of my mother.
I am: me!
In most cases, the mother spends the majority of time with the child during the initial upbringing, so she is very influential. But you worded the question "who does the child primarily BELONG to ", a peculiar turn of phrase. The child belongs to both parents, and is the responsibility of BOTH parents, but each has a different set of responsibilities as well as some overlapping ones. The child belongs to its Creator if you want to get technical about it. Parents are just the caretakers for a short time.
That's not true at all. In the case of a divorce, it depends on who gets primary custody. It can be split 50/50 if the court decides to do so, especially if the parents live in the same school district or close enough to remain in the same school.
"From a legal standpoint, mothers automatically have parental responsibility"
www.familylives.org.uk/.../parental-responsibility
In the UK, but not in the USA if you're married, where both parents share parental responsibility.
Must be nice to imagine a world where both parents want custody of their child.
If they are old enough then it's the child's consent, in case none of the parents wish to claim custody I feel it's the father, and in case both claimed and were perfectly capable of providing for the child it's the mother.
However if she would need to rely on child support from the father I feel it's an even game.
My mother had no interest or capacity to claim us after the divorce even with my father sending money, well above what's required she didn't exactly urge to support each one of us and it was clearly unsustainable, in such case I don't wish to prioritize the mother's custody where she didn't assume nearly enough responsibility.. if the mother offers nothing but a part of the child support she doesn't get the custody of the child.
Dude. Child rearing is a team effort. And a decision made together as a couple. The baby is the father's child just as much as it is the mother's child. Just because mom popped the baby out does not mean dad was not involved either. He was there (presumably) every step of the way supporting mom. He has a part to play too.
The questions wasn't who is more important. The question was not who the child needs more.
The question was who the child Primarily belongs to and who is chiefly responsible. The word "chief" should have raised your testosterone levels to action.
If a nomadic lion comes into the territory of a male lion and slaughters his children as the supposed alpha stands by watching, who is chiefly responsible for the death of those cubs?
It's mine. I'm going to grow it inside of me and carry that baby for 9 months, I'm going to be the person bringing my baby to the world and risk my life
Hopefully tho I will not raise my kid alone and hopefully have a loving future father of my kids but in most cases we women raise that kind on our own... so yeah it's a clear case in my eyes
Nah all you do is cum and nothing more, so yeah again it's obvious to me
Not necessarily. It would be great tho
Even the court system tends to go more for mothers, unless she is an awful beast
Yeah cause 80% of fathers are either absent or abusive assholes
@melanieeeB
That's just not true is it melanie
A woman risks her life to give birth but ultimately children are sentient beings who belong to nobody.
Men with greed and hubris like you are worthless. You think only men have value and only men's thoughts matter but your self-centredness makes you blind.
Equal, because if a child was the responsibility of one more than the other, then things like child support wouldn't exist.
After all if it is 90% one persons, then why would the other even bother being part of it.
I know lots of parents with 50/50 equal joint custody, US ofc... they live nearby each other, get along great and the kid spends a week at one parents, then the next at the other.
A child doesn't BELONG to anyone, that would be SLAVERY. In most cases, the mother spends more time and effort caring for the child, but both parents are usually involved in the child's care, teaching and well-being.
@DoctorSex No, I classify myself as a human male.
Father isn’t carrying the child but if it's a healthy marriage and the parents decide they don't want to they will abort it because they chose together. If it's rape, incest, and other fuck no automatic abortion. If the father is not in the picture mother has to decide if to keep the baby or not.
In all honesty, it is both. Both have the responsibility of raising the child and caring for it till it becomes of age. But who technically owns the child? The state, sadly. Let me explain on why. From the moment the parent signs the papers in the hospital to get the baby a social security number, the parents just signed a form for responsibility of raising but with the baby having a ssn, it now belongs to the state allowing them to take the child away if parents are seen as unfit to raise.
In a rational thinking world the child belongs to both equally. In this feminist run bizarro world, it belongs to the mother exclusively and got help you if you piss her off.. Even though women are responsible for more child abuse, child death, and child neglect than men.
So many bitter worthless women in the comments it's comical.. And you wonder why men don't want you any more.
mother and child... is a (normally and healthy) bond like no other, just no comparison at all
none
could you please rephrase that question again?
or elaborate on what you actually mean?
@NathanDavis
Well your point was that the bond between child and mother is just like no other.. my question was about who is chiefly responsible so I can only conclude you lean more to the mother.
So my argument to you then is, if the bond between mother and child is like no other.
Why is it then that violent crimes against women come out of situations (to the tune of 90+%) where the child convicted was raised by a single mother?
Does that not indicate to you a hate or anger towards women?
not necessarily no... a way more simple to see it is opportunity
if you are a male, then targeting a woman will be much easier, as simple as that
no, and that's not what I said either...
what I say is that in most cases, violent people or any gender, will target weaker and vulnerable people... regardless of gender
also, out of curiosity... can you refer me to the source of that stat you claim "" 90% of violent young men have single mother households" I would like to read about the study
I said violent crimes against women come out of homes that are disproportionately single mother led.
Your reply was "not necessarily no... a way more simple to see it is opportunity"
So forgive me if I concluded that what you were infact saying is that when men have the opportunity they behave in violent ways against women.
Now you're saying,
"what I say is that in most cases, violent people or any gender, will target weaker and vulnerable people... regardless of gender"
But my good man. That's shifting the goal posts, putting the cart before the horse per sae.
Because you side stepped my point which was, what makes these people violent, what was the situation that these people were raised in. I've stated that 90% came from households of single mothers. Would you not agree that's a strong correlation?
I got those statistics as they were quoted in the famous book by Shahrazad Ali. But equally this isn't something that is hard to find, a quick Google search will pull of multiple statistics.
Even in the UK the ONS (office of national statistics) mirrors the same results as those found in America.
Anyway, we're flogging a dead horse at this point and I believe I've got a sense of your position on the matter.
Thank you,
so, again... where is the source? do you have it
or is just the "I read it in a book so you have to believe it without actual sources"
is that how this works?
and also, no... that's not exactly how correlations work
and both of my statements are not contradictory, they do stand by themselves, and also work together as part of the same argument
I told you the Office Of National Statistics. ONS. It's on their website under statistics for prison inmates. You can easily at the comfort of your chair, go on the official government website and look it up in the search engine. I haven't the time to do it for you. The book where I found Americas prison statistics is called "the BM guide to understanding the BW"
But I can bet my house you won't buy the book so asking me for my reference is a waste of both our times.
Kind regards,
so... you have nothing but "believe me I saw it"
got it...
Lol are you ok my friend?
I've literally given you the book, the name of the author. I know this may be a new concept to you young folk, but back in my days we had these things called books. And these books were made up of sheets of pages called 'paper'.. I speak of an ancient time young man.
and you call yourself a Doctor... lmfao
what a joke
@NathanDavis ad hominem attacks followed by excessive nervous laughter. I know when a man's had enough :). I hope you do check out the book as well as the ONS website.
Take care,
*throws latin bla ble bluh to appear smarter*
I see you got even better jokes, lol
The courts usually lean mother. She did bake the kid in her oven.
Both, unless the parents are split up and either the mother or father have primary custody.
The mother has to carry the child for 9 months and has all the pain in birth so she has most of the claim, yes it takes both parents but once the fun is over all the pain is the woman's.
Yeah actually it dose, it the woman's egg that is the start of life that your seed is added to.
You don't start life. I start life.
Male nature is fire, female nature is water. Water can only exist where heat it present.
In the Bible/Qur'an and Torah the male came first.
Physical ✅
Spiritual ✅
Mental...
Shall we move to mental?
The reptilian brain is the primary mode of operation. It is the brain that men primarily think through. Where as in the female brain, activity is most clustered around the cingulate gyrus, the cingulate gyrus operates In the area of the brain that is responsible for the secondary/ higher mental processes.
Ergo, the male brain and mode of thinking developed first, the female mode of thinking developed second.
More simply put, one must enter the house downstairs before climbing to go upstairs.
Reference: "Whole brain child" by Doctors Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson
Which is totally irrelevant to your original question. That was not about how long we can reproduce, but who was responsible. That gives even more reason for the woman to have higher claim. If (and I still am not taking your word) that is true. The limits on how long we have th ability. Just face it you don't really want answers, you just want to push your limited pig headed views.
Actually my check mate. (Mic drop)
Also, modes of thinking again are just a reach away from the question. Spouting random quotes dosent make your point right. (Mic drop)
Me attack, I'm just responding to what you put out there. Your the one that compared us (women) to kitchen furniture, not me. Your the one that said our bodies had no choice but to accept a males seed, not me. Your the one who refuses to accept the fact Your seed is useless without our eggs. I'm just pointing out your pig headed views. Don't belittle us then try to claim some moral high ground here.
Both. 2 It's why its called Child Support and Im not talking about the divorce stuff.
The father and mother (if both in the life of the child ) are 50/50 period.
It should always be both parents.
Both. That's what parenting is.
Wow. I have to stop writing messages from work.
Can there be two CEOs to one company
* How can one be responsible for the development of a child if fundamentally one can be denied access.
Wait what? Broken home?
You answered both.. so I asked, how can one say both? One must be PRIMARILY responsibility.
In the case of a divorce, the child must go to one of the parents.
Both
So you just realized Effeminate men are coming?
Equal responsibility
Neither. They share equal responsibility
Mother, obviously.
Whoever is less abusive
The one who's really wiling to raise it.
I never belonged to my mom
Both equally.
50/50
both
