How can you prove you're responsible?

I'm watching an episode of Even Stevens on Disney Plus, and the episode was about how Louis needed to prove he was responsible enough to baby sit Twitty's younger brother, while Ren and Twitty go to the school dance (not together, just, that Louis isn't going but they are). However, his mother doesn't think Louis is responsible enough to take care of someone/thing else (as is apparent with a bird he tried taking care of once, which he wound up unaliving

So, how can you PROVE, you're responsible
