My wife is upset because yesterday was the 2nd time I woke up our 8 year-old daughter late at 1:00 am. She saw me drunk but I'm still a caring, loving father even in that state. I've never been an aggressive drunk. I'm actually sloppy and more affectionate when drunk.

I was only 19 years old when we had our daughter. I don't drink nor go to parties too much because I was exhausted from work. My friends and I decided to just have a couple drinks.

So I have to say good bye to drinks and parties? I can't do that at least twice a month?

Twice a month is actually quite a bit for getting sloppy drunk. You have a wife and daughter. You need to do better. Quite frankly, there is never a need to get sloppy drunk. It seems like you don't have control over it.

You said you decided to get a couple of drinks. A couple of drinks doesn't get you sloppy drunk. If you really did only have a 2-3 drinks twice a month it wouldn't be too bad. But you are obviously drinking more than that.

Nope, but the problem isn't even the frequency, the problem is what you do when it does happen. You gotta do better. If your drinking wasn't causing problems, she wouldn't have made any comment about it.

I'm a sloppy drinker so I'll have to cut off drinks and parties. Perhaps that was my way of saying bye to that fun party life. My life has been filled with responsibilities ever since I became a father at just 19 years old. That's young even for a girl. I still felt like a kid (somewhat) back then.

Understandable that forced you to change your plans, but now you have a child and have an ethical obligation to put their needs ahead of your need to party. That child will be grown by the time you are 40, and then you can party.
