Why are stepchildren treated like 'whipping boys' ?

A whipping boy is a boy who is blamed and punished for the failings of others.

I got beat up by my stepmom for every mistake of my stepsisters. They broke the window, I got beat up. They spilled coffee on the couch, I got beat up. They got caught smoking, I got beat up etc.
Even when they didn't do their homework, I got beat up again because my mom thought I was keeping them busy,
I took all these beatings in front of my snickering sisters.

It's very common with blended families. Often it's the woman, and she can turn into a witch once she has your dad.

If she brings kids into the blended family, then in her mind, they are better and his kids are inferior.

Not all stepmoms are bad and evil,. but most will treat his kids differently.

I almost got up with a woman with kids. Her kids didn't want to share their mommy, and they resented me and my children being near them. They treated my kids horribly. When I broke up, my then girlfriend wanted to send all the kids to therapy so it would pave the way to marriage.

When I walked away, she gave us, and therapy wasn't really an option. It was a bandaide.
