Do you attend your children’s conferences?

I always have. My parents did too. I like hearing my kids teachers say nice things about them. We bring them along too. It’s a whole

family affair, the 4 of us. It can be a bit of a circus with 2 boys but totally worth it and we go out to eat to celebrate after. You?

My son just started preschool this year, and we've only had one conference. He's doing great and is one of the "nice kids"

When my kids were in school (they're grown now), I and my wife always attended conferences, unless I was out of town on business, in which case, she went. We also attended every open house and PTSA activities we could. They were lots of fun, very informative... some made me want to go back to school again.

One of us at a minimum always goes, and each kid gets to experience their siblings being there as well. We tend to schedule them right in a row if possible. I'm not always able to attend because I travel frequently, but I was able to go to all three this past fall.

Uh I just took my kids last week to their conferences. All 3 kids plus being pregnant by myself. I wanted to leave cuz I didn't care about what the teachers had to say (they already give me email updates every other day so it felt really pointless being there)

i always did. Even when I was busy with work I always found time to go. One of the coolest things I got to do was to sneak out of work for a few hours go to my son's college and watch him present to the faculty a project that he won an award for. I didn't want to embarrass him so I just sat in the back and watched and when he finished I just gave him a big thumbs up and snuck out the back door.

My mom always said she loved hearing my teachers say nice things about me. I feel the same way. 🥰

Every one for every one of the four kids. And, like @AviatorTom the PTA meetings, etc. Be involved. The benefit to our children is almost incalculable.

You're right in many cases. I was part of a PTA at one of my schools and it was so toxic that I left and still don't trust them. Alternatively, the PTA at my daughter's elementary school is full of thoughtful people who are gracious and kind and put the kids and teachers and schools first. So, yeah, many PTA parents are pretty terrible but I think there are also some good ones.

@Apple1996 I appreciate you not taking my response as snarky. Wasn't intended that way. :) You're spot on: the folks at my son's school were rude, demanding, impatient, and never listened. They wanted drones to do their bidding and carry out their vision of what was best for the school. Nightmare. My daughter's? The exact opposite. Collegial and genuinely out for the benefit of the kids.

I always did for both of my kids. I hated going in middle school and high school and we had to go to each class. It was exhausting after working all day

I don’t have kids. If I did, I would be going to their parents teacher conferences. I did go for my nieces because their parents weren’t able to go.
