Why was my brother more upset with his best friend (now ex best friend) than cheating ex girlfriend?

He got cheated on a couple years ago. I've wondered this:

He went after his best friend and fought him. He took all his anger on him. He only dumped the ex girlfriend but didn't even talk bad about her to others. He just blocked her and that was it, nothing in comparing to what he did to the best friend.

I've noticed this behavior in certain men. They go after the man she cheats with mainly. Why? He isn't the one promising to be faithful to him.

Best friend should of known better, even though the best friend isn't the one who made a commitment, you don't do that. It was a betrayal too.

Likely can't go after the ex-girl friend the same way though, as there are laws to protect someone in a relationship. If they were living together, could be domestic violence or worse.

I get that obviously hurting the girl is bad. But he could've yelled at her, say all the nasty words in the dictionary at her and ended with spitting in her face to show his disgraceful at how much of a worthless skank she is.

And then trashed her things and throw them outside.

If they were living together, destroying property is considered domestic violence. He could get arrested for that.

Yelling is fine, I'm surprised he didn't.

yeah that's what I'm surprised too. He went ape crazy on his friend, used all the anger and fuel during that confrontation and fight, said nasty words to him, etc.
With her, he actually had an exhausted, disappointed look and only said that it was over and not to ever call him again, then blocked her. Definitely less reaction.

Best friend usually means there is a longer history than partner.

So it's different type of love but it is possible the amount of love he has for his bestfriend made the betrayal hurt more

Probably because they don't want to beat up a girl.

I understand that but I think at most he would've perhaps yelled at her, say the meanest things in the dictionary to her, spit in her face, then destroy her things and throw them outside.

Because losing someone who is just a girlfriend is common, but losing your best friend is far less common and less expected.
