Few trusted ones, if some one has lots of friends the likelihood is they are probably a shit friend to most of them as they are unable to divide their time and will flake a lot

It depends actually. However, most of the time friend to everyone is a friend to no one. It is okay to be social and know many people, it does not make someone suspicious. But I would go with a few trusted ones in terms of having real friendship bonds.
