My husbands family dog (now ours) has always bit him and his family since they got him, he is now 8 and just bit my husband for laying down next to him- and the bite broke skin and is pretty deep! My husband says it’s okay, and thinks his behavior is nothing to be worried about- but I am shocked and worried about it. I think his dog needs more training but my husband doesn’t agree. What do you think?

This is unacceptable behavior for the animal because, if it did that to anyone else:
1) You are going to have a lawsuit.
2) The animal will be taken from you and put down.
This animal's behavior needs to be corrected ASAP - to keep you financially healthy and to keep the dog alive.
I am NOT sure "training" is going to help other than the good-old-fashioned kind.
The next time the animals bites, you get furious and do a whap or two and make it think it's going to die.
NOTHING TEACHES LIKE NEGATIVE EXPERIENCES.
NOTHING FOCUSES THE MIND LIKE BELIEVING DEATH IS IMMINENT.
My generational farming line would say, “someone is from the devil in this…it may all of them competing Most Devilish trophy 🏆. The Dawg is either Michael or Satan.”
Definitely needs training and more so definitely can't be trusted to be around kids alone.
I worked really hard to train my nieces 3 giant german shepards. The result by the time she is 7 and them 3 they were super docile and loving. The worst they would do to a person if lick you to death XD. But biting would never happen. Particularly the derpy giant one of the trio as he will suck on his treats before eventually chewing XD. Probably the strangest treat eating dog I've ever seen. O... O
