Sometimes 1 or 2 friends is all you need. People can have loads of friends bit when you really need someone in your darkest hour, not single one is to be found but probably 1 who is closest to you. More friends doesn't always mean close or true friendships. So if the two friends you have now are loyal to you and dependable, stick with them.

As long as they're genuine, and you feel content with them. Are they good people you really enjoy being around? Are they respectful and do they make you happy? If your answer is yes, then congratulations. You have 2 very good friends and they're all you need - ignore the fakes.

If the 2 friends that you have are good friends then yes that's enough. One good friend that stands by you no matter what is all you really need and if the2 friends you have are like that awesome. I found out the hard way that most so called "friends " are fake. My roommate and me are great friends always have each others back.

Yes as I’ve gotten older all the friends unused to talk to in school flaked out. You only need a handful of friends, maybe even just one. Better to have one true friend than a lot of fake ones. It is very hard to find someone who is true, but when you do don’t let them go. That’s all you need.

It can be more than enough for some and way too litle for other people. Lonelyness and social contacts are extremly subjective. If you feel lonely and are in regular contact with your friends than it doesn't seem enough for you personally.

Quality over quantity, as the saying goes. I have 2 very close friends, and 3 regular friends. If I were to lose those 3 regular friends, I’d still be content with my 2 close friends.

It doesn't matter if you have one friend or 100 friends depends on the quality. Introverts couldn't get by with one friend. Extroverts as a tendency to have a quite a few hundred friends.
